We stay each night in campsites or in grounds of hotels (where we camp) along the way. Shower and toilet facilities are good (within the context of a camping trip). Crew are first aid trained and always conscious of clients security and the need for care and guidance to clients who (for the most part) are on their first trip to Africa. Clients are encouraged to be careful with valuables and to comply with certain 'truck rules' to assist with everyone's security on tour. These are not difficult to understand (such as not leaving valuable within sight when we leave the vehicle (eg cameras/ phones on seats) . and in many ways are 'common sense' for travellers (eg not to be flashy with cash money in public, being careful about local foods).

Aaron was very good guide. Stopping when needed for bathrooms. The distance between some locations is very far. The seat belts in the Safari Tour Truck were not to be used because they do not work. I buckeled up and then found the seat belt would NOT unbuckle. Ask the driver to cut the belt but he said no his safari truck would not pass inspection if he cut the belt. I should not have used it...... Do you have any idea what his means.... it is NOT Safety First, it is just get the people thourgh the system.Show more

  Do the guides have firearms? I would want to have someone with us that can handle most any situation, if it was god forbid needed.

  The crew are not armed ; nor must clients be. If there is any civil disturbance we do all we can to avoid the affected area but if we ever get caught up in eg a demonstration or any trouble - which is extremely rare - we keep quiet and rely on talk and letting the trouble pass by. The local team have been operating almost 30 years; and this has worked so far.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 26th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 26th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with On The Go Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 70 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
