This was a great experience! I would definitely recommend it. The itinerary was perfect, with the first day to acclimatize, second day summit, and third day return to Cusco. We even got to visit the hot springs in Pacchanta. My guide Irvin was simply amazing. He was super positive, motivational, and very knowledgeable. I would love to tour with Unu Raymi again.

    • Unu Raymi ExpeditionsOperatorWritten May 2022

This program focuses on a couple of aspects. The first week is about acclimatisation, familiarity with the mountain environment here in the Andes and exploration of local communities, Incan sites etc. Mostly it will be focussed in the Sacred Valley - altitudes ranging from 3,600m - 2,400m. Getting acclimated to the altitude is key to a successful expedition. We can tailor this week to include some rock/ice climbing, ziplining, trekking & Machu Picchu! In the second part of the program you'll head to the Cordillera Vilcanota (Ausangate Region), this is about 3hrs drive from Cusco. You will go with your guide to take on 2 summits, the first peak is Nevado Qampa at 5,500m (a great introduction for a first summit), then depending on your condition and ability you will go on to summit Nevado Percocaya 5,200m. If you can arrive in September, I would strongly recommend this month as it's towards the end of high season but the weather is still very good and perfect for climbing.

Is the domestic flight from Lima to Cusco included in the price? Also, is the trip refundable if it cannot go ahead because of Covid?

    • Unu Raymi ExpeditionsOperatorWritten January 2022

Domestic flights from Lima to Cusco are not included in the program, but they are relatively inexpensive (between $90-$140 USD round trip). I can recommend Sky Airlines or LATAM airlines. If you prefer, I can revise the trip plan to include flights in the package. With respect to refunds, we are currently offering to replan trips if there are continued problems with Covid-19 related travel plans.
