    Asked on May 7th, 2026

What wildlife can I expect to see in January and is early, mid or late Jan better? What is the weather like? I am interested in viewing large cats for sure (lions, leopards, cheetahs). What are the baggage restrictions and weight and size restrictions for baggage since we are mostly travelling between sites in the same vehicle. During the safari, are there bathroom break opportunities?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

January is an excellent time for safari in Tanzania, especially in central Serengeti areas. This is typically the calving season, which attracts a high concentration of wildlife activity. You can expect to see: Lions, leopards, and cheetahs (excellent chance of sightings, especially cheetahs in open plains), Large herds of wildebeest and zebras (depending on movement patterns in the Serengeti), Elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, and many antelope species, Increased predator activity due to the presence of young animals. Early, mid, or late January are all good, with mid to late January often offering slightly higher wildlife concentration as migration patterns settle in the Serengeti region. January is generally warm and pleasant: Daytime temperatures: warm to hot, Occasional short rains, usually not disruptive to game drives, Landscapes are green and scenic, ideal for photography. There are no strict baggage restrictions on our safari vehicles. However, we recommend: 1 check-in bag per person, A carry-on bag is perfectly fine. Your camera bag is acceptable. Our 4x4 safari jeeps are spacious, with: Guaranteed window seat for each guest, Pop-up roof for game viewing and photography. Yes, there are regular bathroom break opportunities during the safari: At designated park gates and picnic sites, Planned stops during game drives for comfort and convenience.

Can you arrange extra night stay and what will it cost? For baggage in addition to the camera bag I will carry a suitcase. Is that fine or you need something soft like a duffle bag. Once I put in the deposit is the trip guaranteed even if you don't have other passengers to go on the same dates? Please send guidelines for gratuity. How much money to convert to your currency? I understand that the money can be converted at the airport and use of credit cards may be difficult once on the safari.

    • Z

      Zoe

      TravelerWritten May 2026

Do you have a recommended packing list of things to bring. Would you be able to provide a bean bag to rest the camera lens on the window? For meals I am a non vegetarian but currently on a preferred vegetarian diet with occasional non vegetarian food. Expected temperatures range to plan appropriate clothing.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

Yes, we can arrange extra nights before the safari. The cost is usually USD 50 per person sharing on a bed and breakfast basis. Regarding baggage, we can accommodate a suitcase, however, if you have a duffle bag, it is much better and more convenient for safari travel. Yes, once you place the deposit, your safari departure is guaranteed even if no other clients join the group. In terms of tips, we generally recommend USD 15 to 20 per person per day. You can easily use USD during the safari, so there is no need to convert everything into Tanzanian Shillings. Yes, you can exchange money at the airport. Credit cards can still be used at the hotels in case you have any extra bills to settle, mainly drinks, as these are the only items not included under full board accommodation. I can also check on the availability of a bean bag for photography and get back to you. We can accommodate both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal preferences. For late January, expected temperatures are generally: Early mornings and evenings: around 15°C to 20°C, Daytime: around 25°C to 30°C. The weather is usually warm with occasional short rains, and the landscapes are very green and beautiful during this period.

      Zoe

      TravelerWritten May 2026

On the vaccine front there are a lot of recommendations, which are really necessary. And will bottled water be available always? I don't drink alcohol. Apart from the gratuities and some allowance for some souvenirs, how much should I budget per day in USD? I don't have a duffle bag and I will need something with wheels since I am traveling alone. Regarding photography, is it usually through the roof of the safari? Would it help to bring a monopod to steady the camera or the windows will be open too?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

Yes, bottled water is always provided. There are no mandatory vaccines for travelers from the USA/Canada to Tanzania. Yellow fever vaccination is recommended if possible. That is okay. Even without a duffel bag, a wheeled suitcase will do. You can take photographs from the roof or through the windows as they open as well. Regarding the budget, USD 50 per day is more than enough for tips and possibly souvenirs. For souvenirs, you can also use your card in most places.

    • Z

      Zoe

      TravelerWritten May 2026

Yellow fever vaccine is not recommended for people above 60. So I won't get that. Also my flight will be via Europe so no chance of coming through a yellow fever area. Also I will carry a certificate that yellow fever is not possible for my age as suggested by the Tanzania website.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

Yes, you are right about the yellow fever vaccination. In that case, no other vaccination is necessary for your travel.

      TravelerWritten May 2026

For my travel dates, can you confirm if I will be staying at Serengeti Safari Lodge (not the camp option)?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

We have several formed groups. One option is arrival on the 13th to start the tour on the 14th, with a solo female traveler aged 36. Our vehicles have a maximum capacity of 6 guests, and everyone is guaranteed a window seat. We also have other groups, mostly with two people traveling together. We also have an arrival on the 14th with two sisters in their late 40s to early 50s.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

Yes, this is correct. If you choose to arrive a day earlier or depart a day later, we can arrange accommodation at the same hotel. For the above dates, the booked client is staying at Serengeti Central Lodge, and we can accommodate you there as well. Priority is always given to the planned lodges.

    Asked on May 4th, 2026

If they'd like to stay in Zanzibar those 4 extra nights but instead of only breakfast included, all-included. How much would it be? If they'd like to stay in Serengeti an extra night to watch the night of the Great Migration, is it possible to do? And do you think it would worth it?

    Accommodation
    Price / Availability
    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

Yes, we can add an extra night in the Serengeti.
At Central Serengeti, the cost is USD 300 per person per night, and in Northern Serengeti it is USD 450 per person per night. Though adding an extra night makes the tour private.

Please note that the Great Wildebeest River Crossing is not guaranteed, but it is a highly rewarding experience when it occurs.

For Zanzibar, an all-inclusive stay is approximately USD 2,000 for 4 nights.

    • K

      Karen

      TravelerWritten May 2026

About the all-inclusive stay in Zanzibar, would it be USD 2,000 for 4 nights per person or for both travellers?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

The USD 2,000 rate is for 4 nights in Zanzibar for both travellers.

    • K

      Karen

      TravelerWritten May 2026

There will be two travellers, and they would like to share a room together while having it as a private room for themselves. When selecting the room type, the first option that appears is a double room, but it says "per person in a shared room." We just wanted to confirm whether the room would be private for them in all accommodations.

    • K

      Karen

      TravelerWritten May 2026

The clients would also like to keep this program as it is, but they are interested in adding 2–3 nights in Maasai Mara before the main trip. They mentioned the possibility of starting their journey there first and then transferring to the meeting point to begin this program on the selected departure date. Would this be something we could arrange with you as well?

    • K

      Karen

      TravelerWritten May 2026

Could you please explain how the cancellation policy works? For example, until when can they cancel free of charge? Also, would it be possible to postpone or reschedule the trip in case something unexpected happens?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

We confirm the room will be private for the two travellers and not shared with anyone else, even though the system may show "per person in a shared room" wording.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

I have shared a tour that combines Kenya and Tanzania, including 2 nights in Maasai Mara and 1 night in Lake Nakuru. You may wish to discuss this option with the clients, as it is a good way to combine both destinations. We can also adjust it by removing Lake Nakuru and keeping either 2 or 3 nights in Maasai Mara, depending on their preference.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten May 2026

On cancellation, once booked a 5% platform fee applies. After that, the policy is as follows:
60 to 30 days before arrival: 20% cancellation fee
29 to 2 days before arrival: 65% cancellation fee
Within 48 hours of arrival: 100% cancellation fee

We also offer free rebooking to a future date, subject to availability, as accommodation may vary depending on the new dates.

What the best time of the year for this tour?

    Tour Details
    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

The best time to visit Tanzania for this tour is during the dry season, from June to October, when wildlife viewing is at its best as animals gather around water sources and the weather is pleasant for safari activities.

However, the tour can also be enjoyed during the green season from November to March, when the landscapes are lush, birdlife is abundant, and the scenery is beautiful.

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

Yes, we confirm that the accommodation provides single rooms with attached bathrooms.

Do you have information or photos of the bedroom set up with 5 beds in a room?

    Accommodation
    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

We recommend booking at least two rooms if all guests are adults, as the rooms are not large enough to comfortably accommodate five adults in one room, except in the Serengeti where we can offer a family room and its quite spacious. We can arrange one triple room and one double or twin room.

Is the insurance of $460 for all 5 of us or individually we would have to pay that amount? If so, would we be allowed to get travel insurance through another company?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

Yes, the insurance needs to be paid upfront together with the deposit amount. You are also free to arrange alternative insurance with another provider if you prefer.

Are there binoculars in the safari jeeps? Also, if we get our own travellers insurance, if we cancel 30 days before, would we still forfeit 20%?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

Yes, we have at least one set of binoculars in the safari jeeps. In case you have your own, you are welcome to bring them along. Yes, if you cancel within 30 days, the deposit is forfeited. However, you can always move the trip forward to a later date at no additional fee.

If we may have up to 12 people in my party, would that mean that you would have 2 jeeps available so that we can all stay together on the same safari? If so, should 1 person make the reservation and put 12 people on the reservation so we all stay together? Also if someone has a machine that they plug in at night for sleep apnea, what kind of plugs do you use in Africa and can you plug in electronics on the night that is in a tent (camping)?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

For a group of 12 guests, we will arrange two private safari jeeps exclusively for your group. If it is more convenient, one person may proceed with the booking and include all travellers under the same reservation. Regarding electricity, Tanzania uses Type G plugs (UK-style three-pin sockets). You will be able to plug in the sleep apnea machine as well as other devices that require charging. This is also available in the camps as well.

What example can you give me for good choices on the trip. I am a very picky eater.

    Meals
    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

Breakfast and dinner are both served as buffet meals, offering a variety of options so you can choose what suits your taste. For breakfast, you can expect items such as eggs prepared in different ways, toast, pancakes, sausages, fruit, cereals, tea, and coffee.

For dinner, the buffet usually includes options like grilled chicken or beef, fish, rice, potatoes, pasta, fresh vegetables, salads, and sometimes soups and desserts.

Lunch is typically a packed meal during safari days, which may include a sandwich or wrap, fruit, juice, and light snacks.

We can also accommodate most dietary preferences and requirements, so please feel free to share any specific needs in advance.

is just a question related about Children aged 1 to 3 years are allowed on the tour? and how to include in the travellers and the acommodation ?

    • World Adventure ToursOperatorWritten April 2026

Yes, we can accommodate children on the tour. However, we recommend booking it as a private tour for greater flexibility. Please note that a 1-year-old may be quite young for this itinerary, as it involves long driving distances during the safari.

We can add the child to the booking on our end, as this option is not available during the standard booking process.
