  The key word is OVERALL, which I would rate as Good. The positives were the guides. Our guide, Kaka, in Kenya was absolutely terrific in every way. He was there to help us through everything, including facilitating us through the Kenya / Tanzania border crossing and upgrading us to a private driver, instead of us having to take a bus from the Tanzanian border back to the Nairobi airport. Our other guide in Tanzania was also great and very accommodating, especially in helping serve hot meals at the lunch break sites. The whole safari experience, seeing the animals, as well as the tour to visit a native Maasai Tribal Village and, in general, to see how all the people lived and their cultures, was an experience of a lifetime. It surpassed our expectations. The negatives for us, are as follows: First, the trip was too long. If we knew before what we now know, we would have planned a shorter trip; maybe only 6 or 7 days and only in one country. There was too much time driving, especially along rough trails, being constantly bounced around. Some of the accommodations were poor. Our first tent stayover had electrical problems, crude plumbing, and broken tiles. The food seemed to always be the same: stewed chicken or beef with rice and lentils, served buffet-style. We did not care for the box lunches in Kenya. Too many items. The chicken was dry and hard, and the bread was stale. If we were to plan this trip now, knowing better, for the same money, we would have planned a shorter trip and put the extra money into better food and accommodations. We felt we saw enough variety of animals and other sites in one country, without, for the most part, seeing this again in another country. There was a lot of duplication. We did not enjoy the border crossing. We had an experience where we had a customs official try to bribe us for money, not to have to go through all our luggage.Show more

  To start, I think that the itinerary was too long. We were constantly in the jeep and bouncing up and down for about 4 to 7 hours a day. I think a 5- to 7-day itinerary would have been a lot better. We saw the same animals repeatedly. Our guide, Kaka, and Ellie were terrific. They were both very knowledgeable. I just think there was too much repetition. The accommodations were average at best. The food was the same in every place. To sum it up, I think the itinerary could have been shortened, and the accommodations most definitely improved. There was nothing luxurious about any of the accommodations. I guess you get what you pay for. Someone should have said what the accommodations were going to be like in a little bit more detail. The tent situation with the bathroom was fine, but the bathrooms were lacking. There were no lights. It was not the best of accommodations. Even the hotels were a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. All in all, the safari itself was good. We saw a lot of animals. It's just that I expected more.Show more

  I booked a 10 day Kenya and Tanzania adventure with Africa Venture Safaris, and each stop delivered strong wildlife moments. Maasai Mara and Serengeti had lions and migration scenes, while Ngorongoro added rhinos up close. Amboseli gave clear elephant views. The guide stayed informed and kept drives engaging. Border crossing felt smooth, and the pricing matched the experience. A great option for a cross-country safari.Show more

  Our tour was absolutely fantastic! Many thanks to our wonderful travel manager Nancy, who managed to take into account our vision of what this tour should look like. She was with us every step of the way, we could count on her 24/7 in case of any emergencies or unresolved questions. Our tour included such amazing spots as Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli Park, which we travelled to with our amazing drive guide Kaka! (He's an absolute best!) The way Nancy came up with the curriculum of the trip it was quite easy to follow the schedule from day to day, and we managed to see the BIG FIVE and SO MUCH MORE! I am forever grateful for her talent, skills, hospitality and overall generosity which made this journey unforgettable!Show more

  This was an experience I will never forget, for both good and bad reasons. When I book an itinerary online I expect that itinerary to remain the same. I spent hours being selective and finding what worked for me. When I arrived in Nairobi I was advised the itinerary had changed, some of the Parks had changed, Manyara was removed, Amboseli was added, which I had already seen as it was not supposed to be part of my original tour itinerary. My itinerary had me starting and finishing in Nairobi, now I’m told it is changed and will finish in Arusha Tanzania. I had no idea that upgrades could be done on accommodation until this point, and for most places now it was too late. The accomodation in Masai Mara was less than acceptable, the bats flying around the tented ensuite, the shower floor breeding insects as it didn’t drain properly, and the lack of light. The roof in the ensuite was full of ‘stuff’ that fell through and the food maybe acceptable for a backpacker but I didn’t pay backpacker prices. If I’d known this I wouldn’t have booked this tour!! Silvia and Nancy were great but unfortunately in most situations the information was a little too late. I understand now what this tour entails however it would have been nice to know that having not experienced anything like it before. It would have made me choose a different operator. The drivers varied, often rude, short when asking questions, the radios were very loud in the vehicles, and constantly on the phone whilst driving with a car full of people. Wish I knew when booking what I know now, would have made different decisions. Overall yes I saw amazing wildlife, and that’s what kept me grateful for. I would have liked to experience Manyara and see Lake Victoria but thanks to a messed up itinerary that was not to be!Show more
