What people love about Egypt Tours in August
- Wonders of Egypt (Classic, Summer)
I was a little apprehensive when initially considering this journey but I am so glad I traveled to Egypt with Insight Vacations! Every detail was handled to perfection. From acquiring the visa at the airport upon arrival to the very last luggage transfer, the professionals at Insight Vacations handled it all! Our Egyptologist, Assem, was beyond amazing in his knowledge of the history, culture and traditions of this indescribable place. Cairo was hectic as more than 20 million people are moving about but with our skilled and professional motorcoach operator onboard a brand new motorcoach we were protected from the chaos of the traffic. Of course the highlights of the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the Museum and the incredible light show in the evening were bucket list experiences. Flying to Luxor to see the amazing Temple of Karnak and spending 4 nights on the MS Medea traveling up the Nile was incredible. The service aboard the Medea was truly world class. The staff was so attentive and the atmosphere so relaxed. I could spend weeks, not days sailing the Nile with that kind of service! The high tea at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan was also a highlight. I felt as if Agatha Christie were about to walk down from her room and join us. Finally, the optional experience to Abu Simbel was wonderful! Don't miss this highlight! Finally, I can't recommend this journey enough. If you want to experience the magic of an ancient civilization but do it with modern amenities, this is the company and the journey for you.
- Splendours of Egypt (Classic, Summer)
the trip was fantastic. Our group was small and we were able to get to know everyone and we all got along. The sights we saw were just unbelievable. There are just not any words to describe all the great things we got to see. Our tour director was great, very personable and so very knowledgeable. Can't say enough good things. the only down side was the boat on our Nile cruise could use with a little updating, biut the food was good and the beds were comfortable.
- Immortal Egypt - GEM visit - 5 stars accommodation
The Holiday in Egypt team This team was incredible even before we left home -- attentive to every detail, deeply experienced in navigating the intricacies of the country, they made perfect recommendations to accommodate the unique needs of our group. It was positively seamless. Both Alaa and Hassan were highly knowledgeable guides. We were so impressed with the depth they were able to COVER across so many sites and stories. (Note – I had read a review that said otherwise. Simply not true!). They are well trained Egyptologists and they held us captivated from sun up to sun down. Private vs. Group We ended up doing a private trip, which worked perfectly for our group of 8 people. A little more expensive, but it was great value. We could set a bit of our own schedule and go at our own pace. Highly recommend, especially if you have older or younger people on the tour. The train We did not do the train and were thankful for it – sounds like an experience, but with our parents and younger kids, it would have been a disaster. We flew instead and were fresh for the busy agenda of tombs and temples. Trips/extras We LOVED Abu Simbel – not to be missed. Nubian village – not to be missed. The trips in Hurghada are full day – we needed the time to relax instead. Know this is a well planned but busy agenda – tremendous value given the short time and all you’ll cover. But that means it’s busy! Would 100% recommend this trip and this company!
What our customers ask about Egypt Tours in August 2026
What are the temperatures like in Egypt during August and how do tours accommodate for the heat?
During August Egypt's temperatures peak at 104°F (40°C) especially in Luxor and Aswan. Tour operators manage this by scheduling key sightseeing activities between 4-5 AM. Many hotels such as the Steigenberger El Tahrir in Cairo provide afternoon pool access for cooling off. One TourRadar guest shared: "The heat was intense but manageable since we did most activities early morning and had afternoons to relax in air-conditioned spaces."
What special events or festivals happen in Egypt during August?
The ancient Egyptian New Year celebration Wafaa El-Nil lights up the Nile River regions in mid-August with notable celebrations in Aswan and Luxor. Cruise vessels like the MS Nile Symphony host Egyptian-themed evenings with local music and dance performances. Guests often mention participating in "special galabeya parties and Egyptian folklore shows" during their August river journeys.
Is August a good time for a Nile cruise and what should I expect?
August proves ideal for river cruising as the Nile provides natural cooling effects. Premium vessels including the Steigenberger Royale and MS Amwaj feature climate-controlled rooms and deck pools. Visitors note that "mornings and evenings on deck are magical with fewer crowds at major temples." Ships plan outdoor excursions for early or late hours allowing midday indoor rest periods.
What are the best optional activities to consider in Egypt during August?
Key August experiences include dawn balloon flights above Luxor ($125) evening river dining cruises and temple light shows after sunset. Guests frequently recommend the "sunrise tour of Abu Simbel temple" and "evening felucca sailing experiences on the Nile." The Karnak Temple evening illumination program draws crowds seeking cooler nighttime entertainment.
What are the most popular activities and attractions to visit in Egypt during August?
August visitors focus on early morning tours to Luxor's Valley of the Kings sunset cruises between Aswan and Luxor and beach time in Hurghada. A recent traveler shared: "The Nile cruise was unforgettable - lying on the sun deck and riding along the Nile with cultural trips to great temples." The Egyptian Museum and Giza Pyramids see most visitors during morning or late afternoon hours.
How should I pack for Egypt in August?
August travelers need light loose cotton clothes that cover shoulders and knees for temple visits. Must-pack items include strong sunscreen sunglasses hats comfortable walking shoes and swimwear for cruises and Red Sea stays. As one visitor advised: "You really need water in 40+ degrees! Take a reusable water bottle and consider moisture-wicking fabrics." Pack a light jacket for air-conditioned spaces in places like Steigenberger hotels and Swiss Inn Resort Hurghada.
