  I thought the trip was a good value for what we paid. The guides were very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. I would not have wanted to visit Egypt without a guide. There were a few things that could be improved. 1) There were 3 days in a row where we had to be up by 3am to be ready to leave by 4am. After the 3rd day, we were all exhausted and most of us skipped the tour the following day because it would be another day of getting up at 3am due the daylight time change. Only 2 people from our group still went. I would have liked to have known about the very early mornings in the itinerary before booking this trip. Those mornings we left early were breakfast boxes that were mostly all bread and fruit and then we didn't get back for dinner until after 8:30-9pm and time for bed right after to get up again early the next day. We had no other meals over over 9 hours unless we picked up snacks at the bathroom stops. 2) We had also requested prior to the trip that our other friend be put next to us in our hotels/ship. When we arrived, none of that had been noted but our guide was able to communicate that to the hotel staff, otherwise, they were not going to let us room next to each other at one place. Our guide took care of it. So we were grateful for that. 3)There was another part of our tour that we didn't get to go down closer to the Sphinx. The bus had been late that morning and not sure why we weren't taken down there when all the other people were there. I was trying to recreate a photo I had of my dad in that spot. 4) Before the trip, I had asked about fitness center availability and was told one would be available for our 5 star accommodation. I went down there one morning and was told it didn't open until 9am. That's way too late. There should be 24hr access in my opinion. We loved all the people we met in our tour group and made new friends. I was looking at another Tourradar vacation for Christmas, but am now hesitant of booking. I would give this tour 2 stars based on the schedule.Show more

  If not for the tour guides Ahmed Kassem and Shaina, this experience could have been very disappointing. The guides themselves were knowledgeable, kind, and truly the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, much of the organization and communication from the company did not match what was promised. Airport Arrival (Cairo – 2:10 AM) We were told someone would be waiting for us inside the arrival hall holding a sign with our name. This was not the case. Instead, we were instructed to leave the arrival area entirely to find our driver outside. The driver had a very small sign (about A4 size), which was difficult to spot. For first-time visitors arriving in Cairo in the middle of the night, this was extremely stressful. We were approached by multiple locals offering rides, and without clear guidance or communication from the company, it felt unsafe and confusing. Once we finally located the driver, we were asked to walk down a dark road to a parking area to reach the van. This was especially unsettling traveling with a child—my daughter was visibly distressed and scared. Hotel Communication Upon arrival at the hotel (first hotel - Helnan Hotel), there was very little orientation. For example, we were not informed about amenities like the free shuttle to the nearest mall, which would have been helpful to know. The bathrooms were unkept/dirty. The second hotel (Steinberger Palace) in Luxor was perfect. Nile Cruise Experience The Nile cruise was one of the biggest disappointments: * Food quality was poor * Rooms were outdated with very thin walls * Night entertainment (belly dancing, shows, etc.) was extremely loud and could be heard throughout all floors This made it nearly impossible to sleep—especially when wake-up calls for tours were as early as 3:00 AM. Multiple travelers in our group shared the same concerns. Additionally, there was a strong smell of diesel and smoke in the rooms, which was alarming. At times, it felt unsafe to sleep due to the fumes. Some guests were able to switch rooms, but this should not be an issue in the first place. Departure Experience The experience unfortunately ended on a similar note. Our guide left us the day before departure, and there was little support or coordination provided for our flight home. ⸻ Final Thoughts The tour guides were excellent—professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about our experience. However, the logistics, communication, and accommodations fell far short of expectations. With better organization, clearer instructions, and improved accommodations, this could have been a much better experience.Show more

  Egypt delivered the bucket-list moments we came for — the Pyramids and camel rides at Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Philae Temple in Aswan, and especially Luxor, where Karnak and the Valley of the Kings exceeded every expectation. Abu Simbel was breathtaking but came at a cost: a brutal 3-hour bus ride each way. If a flight option exists, take it — and if your operator doesn’t offer one, push for it. Our guide, Ahmed Kassen, was the highlight. Deeply knowledgeable, warm, and patient throughout. If you book this tour, you’re in excellent hands with him. A note for families: the pace and long days would likely be tough on younger kids — older or particularly mature children will fare better. A note on safety, since it’s on a lot of travelers’ minds right now: with the war in the region, we were watching closely before we came. Egypt felt safe throughout. We had security at points where we honestly didn’t need it. Use normal travel judgment, but don’t let the regional headlines scare you off. A few honest notes: the Nile cruise was the weak link — the schedule was punishing, the food mediocre, and the overall quality didn’t match the “5-star” billing. Cleanliness and pollution along the river were noticeable. Vendor hassling is constant at every site; expect it and it’s manageable. Stick to bottled water for everything, including brushing teeth. Despite the rough edges, these wonders were worth every mile. Go in with realistic expectations and you’ll have a wonderful trip.Show more

From that point on, Ahmed took control of a very unorganized group and gave us the best experience. Not only is Egypt safe, it is beautiful, full of history, and the most kind people.
