The Tour was well organised, and the guides were great ! Had a fantastic time and met some great people who I hope we are friends for a long time. All the hotels, and the cruise line, were top class. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing I may suggest is that the hotel in Cairo be closer to shops and restaurants. We stayed at the Swiss Inn Hotel Golf Resort and there was not even a shop there, or near there, to buy snacks. Everything, including water, had to be purchased from the bar or through housekeeping (one small bottle per day was provided..a camel probably drinks more 😂).Show more

I was somewhat concerned by the early morning start times, but was very grateful to be able to enjoy our temple tours in the cool of the day rather than in the extraordinary hot midday temperatures. Our tour guides, Tamer Mahmoud. And Dohalia were both extremely knowledgeable and they bent over backwards to be helpful and make our trips as enjoyable and comfortable as we could have wanted. Most excellent and generous service from all staff and the ship and hotels were first glass. I highly recommend the food at the Steigenberger Nike Palace Hotel - quite exceptional. We have just finished the 8 days Historic Horizons Egypt GEM visit. Mohamed met us in Cairo. He explained our itinerary clearly and attended to our needs. Started in Cairo exploring Giza pyramids and the new Grand Egyptian Museum which were both stunning. Our guide Abdul(can't remember his full name) was very patient and attentive. We then flew to Aswan for 3 nights Nile cruise. What made our tour special and memorable is that we were lucky to have an outstanding guide, Hossam Rashwan, who accompanied us for 3 days around Kom-Ombo, Edfu and Luxor. Hossam was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and humorous. He was passionate about what he is doing, not stale in being a guide for a long time. He was meticulous, organised and engaged with every member of the group. Having Hossam as our guide was a wonderful experience by itself ! I’ve been home for a couple weeks now and decided to do my review. First off I highly recommend doing a group tour of Egypt. The accommodations in Giza(Cairo) and Luxor were lovely I had no issues with either property. Food was good. Great pyramid and GEM tours were great our tour guide did a splendid job very knowledgeable she was great. The camel ride we did at the pyramids cost us $20 usd per person Sue our guide arranged it. We had people trying to charge $100 per person. Take note once the camel handler gets you alone he will ask for extra money. He will take plenty of pics for you and whoever is with you and put a thousand blessings on you haggle over the price he wants to charge. The lunch provided in front of the sphinx was included and was good. Flights to Aswan where by Nile airlines transfers were smooth and flights good no issues with luggage. Flight Back from Luxor was by Cairo air and same as above no issues. Note that it will be the afternoon before that you will get your flight info. Several couples took the sleeper train and they ALL had a terrible experience they did not recommend it. If you end up with this option i suggest you change it. I.e the toilets dump onto the tracks below. Next the cruise ship was clean the food adequate. They had some boxed breakfast for the early morning rises and bus trips. Note you will be up early every day anywhere from earliest at 0400 to latest around 0700 depending on what optional tours you take. Also your first night onboard will be in Aswan tied up you might consider some ear plugs as street noise can get loud. Also worth noting the free wifi is 1 gb and after that there is a charge. If you decide to walk around Aswan keep your Witt’s about you everyone is trying to scam you I mean everyone. Listen to your guide and best to stay onboard ship unless your guide is taking you. The temples each and everyone was something to see. It truly is a sensory overload after 4-5 days. They all start to blend in. I did every optional excursion and enjoyed them all. I would like to thank Akmed our guide he was great and we were a small family by the end of the tour. Thank you tour radar myself and daughter had a great experience.Show more

The tour guide amTamar was excellent. He was knowledgeable, personable and professional. We had a few days in a row that required a 4am start time. That was disappointing when on a vacation trip. One day or splitting the days up would have been better instead of 3 days in a row w such an early start. The accommodations were better than expected. The Swiss Hotel was lovely. The boat was dated but comfortable. The hotel in Luxor was fabulous. The food on the boat and dining in general was a bit disappointing but not unexpected. There were two days where we got a sack breakfast due to the early start and that was not good. Th erebwere also two days where we got breakfast quite early and didn’t get lunch until close to 2:00. That was a very long time to go without a meal especially when being very active touring etc. I went to Egypt strictly to see the monuments and I got to see everything. Some of the tours, specifically at the Great Cairo Museum, were very rushed but I did see the highlights. I didn’t expect this to be a “vacation” per se. It was a trip to see the monuments and that was accomplished. If there was a way to give this more of a vacation feel I would have rated it excellent instead of good. When asked, I’ve told friends the monuments are amazing but I would not return to Egypt.Show more

This tour is an outstanding value! It's jam-packed, and there are many early morning starts, but every must-see is included, along with a few optional add-ons that are reasonably priced. We were a group of 22, from many corners of the world (US, UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Canada) and all walks of life, but in short order, we became extended family. In fact, our outstanding tour guide, Ahmed Kassem, nicknamed us the Royal Family, and referred to us as such for the remainder of the trip! We had a separate guide (Sohaila) for the Cairo portion of the tour, who was equally outstanding. The hotel accommodations for the land portion of the tour were very nice - luxurious, even, especially the Steigenberger Nile Palace in Luxor. Our room had a balcony overlooking a very scenic stretch of the Nile. Perfect! Our Nile riverboat, while not the most luxurious on the river, was very comfortable, and the crew was very gracious and accommodating. The views, with the emerald banks of the river against the tawny brown of the desert sands, was exactly what I dreamed sailing the Nile would be. Of the optional excursions, we chose 2: The visit to the temple at Dendera, which proved to be the most exceptional, IMHO, of all the temples we visited, and the hot air balloon ride, which was breathtaking. I chose Holiday in Egypt, among the many, many companies offering tours, because of the reviews and testimonials, in addition to the price. I can't imagine a better choice! Mohamed even arranged a post-tour hotel stay and airport transfer for us, which was most appreciated.Show more
