What are some popular first-day activities when starting in Copenhagen?

The initial day in Copenhagen typically starts with an orientation tour covering essential landmarks. Visitors explore the city's iconic Little Mermaid statue the vibrant Nyhavn district and the stately Amalienborg Palace. Most tours conclude the day with dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodations are often at centrally located properties like the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Copenhagen which provides views of the City Hall and historic Christianshavn area.

What are the most popular first stops after Copenhagen on these tours?

The next destination is usually Oslo or Stockholm with most itineraries including a Baltic Sea crossing. Many routes pass through Elsinore where travelers can view Kronborg Castle before entering Sweden. Accommodations typically include stays at established chains like Scandic Hotels. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The transition from Denmark to Sweden offered stunning coastal views and an excellent introduction to Scandinavian culture."

What transportation is used from Copenhagen to the next destination?

Getting to the next stop depends on the chosen route. Options include overnight ferries to Oslo (17-hour journey) quick flights to Amsterdam (90 minutes) or coach travel across the Øresund Bridge to Sweden. Most departures start from either the Scandic Copenhagen or DFDS ferry terminal. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo was comfortable with restaurants and entertainment on board."

What should I explore during free time in Copenhagen before the tour starts?

Independent exploration in Copenhagen should include visits to Tivoli Gardens the historic Nyhavn harbor district and key royal residences. The Rosenborg Castle and Christiansborg Palace both located near major tour hotels deserve attention. A TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The city tour took us to the famous Royal Palace, colorful Nyhavn district where Hans Christian Andersen lived, and the iconic Little Mermaid statue."

Weather can change quickly so packing adaptable clothing is essential. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "We were fortunate to have cool weather. The summer temperatures were perfect for sightseeing."
