What immunizations will I need?

No vaccinations are compulsory in Himalaya, but we do recommend you are covered for diphtheria & TB, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, *malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus. We also recommend: · A dental check-up prior to travelling. · That you know your blood group in case of emergency. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions which might affect you on tour, you make these known to your tour leader and Ace the Himalaya at the time of your booking.

Do you guys have a PAC Portable Altitude Chamber?

Yes, we do have PAC but we don’t use it for Everest Base Deluxe camp trek since you only have to stay a night above 5000 meters. We will surely provide one if required.

What is the temperature rating of the sleeping bag that you lend to trekkers?

The temperature rating of the sleeping bags we provide are about -10 deg C, we can provide liner or extra blanket if the sleeping bag is not warm enough for you.

Will there be a place to store items/clothing not required for the trek?

The hotel in Kathmandu does provide the free storage services. So you can leave all your items that are not required for the trekking at your hotel.

Do you use yaks/porters on the trek or do we carry all of our own gear?

Whilst on the trek, our porter will take care of your luggage. All you need to carry is your small day bag for your personal belongings like camera, water bottle, sun cream etc only.

Can I add extra days to my trekking trip?

Holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.

Where do we toilet along the trail? Is it similar to Kilimanjaro and just wherever we can find privacy?

At most cases you can use the toilet provided by the tea houses/lodges on the trail but normally in case of emergency, you just do toilet along the trail wherever you find privacy.

Is Ace the Himalaya's staff insured?

Our company insures all our trekking staff members, including guides, cooks, Sherpas and porters. Please browse though Company Information pages to view insurance details.

What opportunities will I have for shower along the trek?

In major places (Namche Bazar, Lukla), we arrange guesthouse with hot shower. And in rest of the places, hotel water in bucket will be provided for shower; it would cost you extra about USD 3-4 per shower.

Do I need to tip my guide and porters? How much would that be?

This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 20 to USD 1000 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you to spend minimum 10% of your total trip cost for tipping entire local staffs, the ratio of tipping guide and porter will be given to you at the pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu before starting the trek.

Honestly I was a bit sceptical given all the glowing reviews and all the fake reviews that seem to be out there these days, but ACE were truely fantastic. I arrived in Nepal just after the riots during the final day of lockdown and it was very calm and peaceful. Everyone was very happy to see tourists and the place was very clean. I was supposed to do the Everest Base Camp trek but bad weather cancelled all flights including helicpoters to Lukla, so our group decided to do ABC instead. Throughout the process both Sujan in the office and our guide Ram were very professional and made sure we understood all the options. They picked me up from the airport even though I arrived early and was staying at a different hotel, and then picked me up again to transfer me to the group trek hotel. What I really liked about ACE, and the main reasons I chose them was that they are a local company with extremely experienced guides (15+ years), but also they actually include things that many of the other big operators like Intrepid and G do not, like nearly all meals, as much filtered water as we wanted as well as hot drinks. This to me made a huge difference overall. The food was also varied and actually very good at all the teahouses. It certainly wasnt Dal Bhat every meal. It was at times even too much food. I think I actually put on weight during the trek. The porters were also always friendly and smiling, helping out with food and filtered water. The trek itself was more geueling than I anticipated with a lot of stairs and a lot of up and down compared to Everest, but we had clear days and excellent mountain views at the top. Seriously, if you are looking for value for money and a professional local operator you will not go wrong choosing ACE.Show more

Once in a lifetime experience! Went in April and the weather was sunny with temperatures dropping as we got higher. The organisation right from the start was excellent. Everything worked like clockwork throughout. The pre-trek briefing prepared us for the trip and the Kathmandu hotel was first class. The Porters actually did the hard work and seemed to make it look easy! For me though the guy who really made it an extraordinary adventure was our Guide: Milan. Nothing was too much trouble, he coaxed and cajoled us when the going was tougher and set a pace that meant that we all made Base Camp. Absolutely one of the nice guys! Fab company and fab crew!Show more

Guide Pasang Dawa Sherpa - An Amazing Man! By: Larry C In completing the challenging trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp in October 2022 with Ace the Himalaya, we were so blessed to have Pasang Dawa Sherpa as our guide! Pasang was absolutely amazing! He not only led us every step of the way, but he was always so positive and encouraging. Pasang literally guided us from our hotel in Katmandu, riding with us on the long, winding road to Manthali for the flight to Lukla, then following our trek to Everest Base Camp, and Mt. Kalapathar, he remained with us all the way back to Kathmandu. The following day, we met with him for a celebratory dinner, and he presented us with special certificates for completing the trek successfully. During the trek, Pasang took care of all arrangements, even helping serve our meals and making sure we all remained healthy and acclimatized to the high altitude trekking. Pasang is such a friendly, humble man, but he always took charge of everything, and every village we came to he was so well known and respected by everyone. Pasang had a great sense of humor and an unlimited knowledge of the mountains, the cultures, the religions, and the history of the Khumbu Region we were hiking through.
