    Accommodation in both Southern and East Africa varies from place to place, dependent on the infrastructure and settlement in different areas. Some destinations visited have high quality accommodation options complete with fluffy duvets and en-suite bathrooms where at other places it may be more rustic with shared facilities.

    Accommodation on tour is twin share. If you are travelling alone then we would place you to share a twin room with another solo traveller of the same sex. If we have no other same sex solo traveller then you have a single room. Regrettably we do not offer a single supplement upgrade.
    Accommodation is generally of a tourist class standard. However there are 2 nights when accommodated clients camp (Acacia provide all camping equipment including sleeping bag).

    If you book the accommodated tour (25KTA13A) then most nights you have bed and linen, except for two nights camping. We (Acacia) provide the sleeping bag and other camping equipment for you. If you book the camping tour (25KTA14) then you must bring your own sleeping bag. We (Acacia) provide tents, mattresses and other camping equipment.

    All Adventure tours are sold on a sharing-basis only. No single supplements applicable. Solo clients will share with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender.

    Accommodation on tour is a mix of simple twin share pre-erected tent (in the Masai Mara), or other tourist class standard twin rooms. There are 2 nights when accommodated clients camp, these are in the Serengeti (1 night) and the Ngorongoro Crater rim (1 night). Acacia provide all camping equipment except a pillow.

    I understand the accommodation included in this packaged is quite budgeted (correct me if I am wrong), so I wonder if we can upgrade the accommodation a bit and have our own bathrooms (instead of shared facilities)?

    The standard of accommodation is budget / tourist class for the most part; and the 2 nights' camping is very basic. I am afraid we cannot offer an upgrade due to of the group nature of the trip and - in several places - lack of suitable alternatives. You mention family .. then I should just mention we have a lower age limit on this tour of 18 years.

    We do not offer single supplements on any Adventure-style tour. Solo travellers will share a 2-man tent (camping) or a twin-bed room (accommodated) with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender. Some nights are spent in remote areas where camping is the only option. Accommodated clients will not need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, one will be provided for your as well as your pre-erected tent.

    In the more remote areas there will be camping, however the client will not have to assemble their tent - this will be done for them, a new pillow, sleeping bag and a mattress will be provided.

  How many people have already booked your Feb 26th tour? And how many are 20-50 years old? I'm looking to join a tour as a solo travler and want to join a group with at least a few people already booked. How many nights are spent in a non-permanent tent? Are there any days where we won't have a toilet attached to our room? Are there any days where we won't have electricity in our room? If I book and we find out there isn't room, do I get a full refund or a credit?

    We carry 16 at a maximum, a mix of ages most are usually between 20 and 40, but some a little older and occasionally some 18/19 (but none under 18). About half the nights there are share bathrooms/ toilets (not at the same time.. I hasten to add...); 2 nights are in tents with sleeping bags (we supply). This is in the Serengeti where the options are either high end comfort or budget. We go for budget. Accommodations otherwise vary but generally are tourist class semi-budget style based on twin share. Electricity is more difficult to say. Yes, it is normally available but anywhere in Africa is subject to power 'outages' (failures) and other uncertainties, some with advance notice, some not. If you book a tour and we have confirmed it, but later have to cancel due to lack of client numbers (or other reason) we offer a full refund or the choice to switch to another Acacia tour (we usually offer a discount or other incentive if that happens) - the choice will be yours.

    The 5th June tour currently has no passengers booked. Given the time frame it seems unlikely that it will run. If you are flexible with your travel dates, please consider the 3rd July tour departure, as this tour is guaranteed to run.

    Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
