Overall, the tour was well organised and the guides ensured we felt safe at all times. The truck was well equipped and I was surprised at how comfortable the seats were - so comfortable I was able to sleep despite the 'African massages' along the way. Despite the fact that some of the journeys were quite long, being able to sleep certainly helped. Some of the journeys on this trip are quite long but they are unavoidable if you want to see these parts of Africa. Anyway, the route was quite scenic and the guides provided info about the surrounding area along the way and we stopped every so often to stretch our legs. The main guide, Sammy, also informed us when to stock up on snacks and drinks at the better supermarkets as a lot of the local shops were poorly supplied as you can imagine. Most of the stops had some form of toilet however my group found that the bush toilets were generally cleaner (this is Africa after all). The tents provided were pretty good and the mattresses were spot on too. I have to say, one of the things I was anxious about before going on the trip was the quality of the meals as catering for large groups often leads to small portions of massively overdone food but both Sam and Ali were great cooks and we always had plenty to eat. We also stopped at local kitchens to try some of the local cuisine for lunch which was another good experience. Our particular group had lots of allergies/food intolerances (seafood, nuts, dairy, gluten and shellfish to name a few) and Sam always provided options for these people - to the extent that one person had to reject his meals so they could use up some of their own food to create some room in their suitcase. Finally, our guide Sammy was excellent along the way and his local knowledge was invaluable for us between helping getting currency changed to recommending where to buy gifts etc. One of the more negative reviews says to do this trip on your own steam which seems like a very romantic idea but without being able to speak the local language (Sam can speak 8 apparently) and knowing how to deal with the corrupt policemen you will only end up wishing you had someone like Sam guiding you.
Bad point(s0:
When I was at Lake Malawi the lake was quite rough so snorkelling wasn't going to be worthwhile but I guess it's just one of those things and Acacia can't exactly control the weather
Highlights of the trip:
South Luangwa - we were fortunate to get VERY close to a pair of lions in heat
The Serengeti - seeing The Great Wildebeest Migration was spectacular
Would recommend.
Everything.was great

Went on the 43 day tour from Kenya to Cape Town and the trip covered everything possible. The tour guide Rachel and truck driver Sam were brilliant, they had so much knowledge and looked after us all - kept us fed very well! All the campsites were better than my expectations, they were cleans, had bars at most of them and occasionally even a pool. I would happily book again with Acacia to do another tour and also highly recommend them to anyone considering travelling around Africa!

It is hard to choose what was my favourite part of the tour, but a few notables would be Zanzibar, Victoria falls,Masaai Mara, Serengetti, The Crater, Namibia. Among individual camping area's Elephant Sands, Canyon Roadhouse, Kande Beach stand out in my mind.Again THANKS to Sam and Tony for making the trip a very warm and pleasurable experience, the meals that these guys can cook up on a 2 burner campstove are amazing, especially Tony's BBQ ribs, they are to die for.

Our guide was a great cook and made our lives easier for that. She was knowledgeable about the countries, always giving us the facts before we arrived. She assisted with currency exchange, where to shop for the best deals, etc.
Our days were full, with lots of them starting at 5:00 a.m. I will forever remember the white water rafting on the Zambezi River and quading on the sand dunes in Swakopmund. The safari's were awesome and I highly recommend the game walk out of Livingstone. It is a surreal feeling to be so close to the animals - the white rhinos especially!
I would do this again in a heartbeat! We hope to return to Namibia and do the coast around Cape Town - a reason to return!
There were a few issues on our trip which I believe our guide worked very hard to resolve. We had a truck roll over on the Serengeti safari, and 2 very unhappy couples to deal with.
I would ask that Acacia bring their tents up to better condition and match poles to tents (same bag numbers).
All this aside I would still recommend Acacia for this type of adventure trip.
We have traveled for 38 years and I will go out on a limb and say this trip was rated in our top 5!!
Well done Sam, you managed to get a group of 24, all having different needs and expectations, safely to Cape Town.
I had a great time. Sam and Angus were both great at their job. First two nights accommodation was too good to be true. Itenry was well planned. Loved the balance between free time activities.

Was only 4 of us, started off strong, Kruger experience was amazing, Zimbabwe was good, Botswana had highs and lows but was the least cohesive part.
It was good, had a nice time my travel companions were wonderful. They could’ve been a little bit bigger than even though the group was small. We need more room to stretch out.

Fantastic Tour Guide/Driver in Sam and his service was 2nd to none

2 suggestions:
- please add safari pass amount to overall tour fee and make payable upfront. It’s safer not to carry lots of cash. Also guide does not need all this cash as most fees can be paid by credit card.
- tipping is expected on most activities. It’s often difficult to figure out the right amount even with the help of the guide. Suggest to make the guide tip on behalf of the group taking the money from the safari pass or ask everybody to pay a small amount upfront (e.g. USD 10) to the guide.
