    Reply from: Acacia Adventure Holidays
Dear William, Thank you for your review of our 21-day Serengeti to Victoria Falls Adventure Accommodated Tour. We are always grateful for the feedback. I regret any misunderstanding about our tours, especially from someone who has travelled with us before. Adventure Tours are designed for those between 18 and 40 and most clients fall within that age group. However, this is a guideline, not a rule. Being young at heart and willing to cooperate with others and participate in group activities have always been more important and I believe our tour information reflects this. For example, the 2023 Pre-Departure Information which was shared with you together with other travel documents says this: Your Fellow Travellers: ‘Adventure Tours’ travellers come from all over the world and from all walks of life. As a guide the majority of clients will usually fall between the ages of 18 and 39, but this is not a strict limit. Minimum age 18.’ Your previous Acacia tour had one person over 40 in a group of 11 clients. This group had 12 clients from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam, seven were aged 18 – 39, and five over 40 (including one over 70 who was travelling with his son). From Dar to Vic Falls there were 15 clients: 10 were under 39, five over 40. Clearly the group had a wide age range but a majority under 40 nevertheless. I understand frustrations with not being able to get a good night’s sleep irrespective of the cause. Joining a group tour obviously entails some uncertainty as to who you share with and calls for compromise and understanding on all. However clearly an issue arose, and you were right to speak to your tour leader (Crispen). I respect the decision you made and am pleased Crispen was able to help, naturally there was a cost because group bookings were twin share. On a more positive note, thank you again for taking the time to give us your feedback and for what you say about the itinerary. Thank you also for your very positive ratings for Crispen and Harmony. Crew are very proud of their client record, and each has been informed of what you have said. Kind regards, Arno Delport Manager

    Asked on January 10th, 2026

What kind of level of camping would we be having? Are we sleeping in tents and on beds or cots? How much Safari time would we have? Are the farm houses well equipped with showers and different bedrooms with the travelling partner?

    Accommodation
    Tour Details
    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten January 2026

The tour proceeds with both camping and accommodated clients - travelling together in the same vehicle and split up only to sleep. With camping, we provide all camping equipment (tents, catering and cooking equipment, camp stools etc) except a sleeping bag which you must bring (and a pillow if you want one). We use easy to pitch two-person dome tents, and covered foam sleeping mattresses. Accommodation is two to a tent with another client of the same sex (if we have no other solo travellers of the same sex then you would have your own tent). Meals are prepared by and within the group, with the tour leader taking the lead. If you choose the Accommodated tour properties are reasonable tourist class, twin share rooms, most with private bathroom, although there are 2 nights where accommodated clients camp. We carry a maximum of 18 clients plus two leader/drivers; although a more typical loading is 10-15 people.

    Asked on May 30th, 2025

Is this trip confirmed to this date and approximately how many people will be? What type of vehicle will be used for ground transport - bus, van, truck, 4x4 car?

    Group size
    Transport
    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten May 2025

The tour operates in a converted Safari Truck, maximum 18 passengers, plus 2 Acacia driver/guides. In the Serengeti/Ngorongoro we use smaller 4x4 safari vehicles (Range Rovers or similar). We provide all camping equipment except a sleeping bag. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality but most people require a visa for Kenya (apply online) and Tanzania (buy on arrival) as well as a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.

Is the yellow fever vaccination completely necessary? I am Spanish and think it might not be required for me. Do I have enough time to get the visas?

      TravelerWritten June 2025

What is the time and place where the travel starts and finishes? I need to book flights and am not sure which to reserve.

    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten June 2025

The tour begins in Nairobi (Kenya) at 08h00 on 18 June from the Hotel Boulevard. We recommend arriving in Nairobi at least 1 day before. Kenya visa is an online application, cost USD 30. Tanzania visa can be purchased at the border for $50 in cash. Yellow Fever is required by all visitors unless you have a medical reason, with a doctor's letter. The certificate is normally checked when entering Kenya and Zanzibar.

    Asked on September 7th, 2024

Is purchasing an Adventure Pass compulsory for this tour?

    Tour Details
    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten September 2024

No the Adventure Pass is not mandatory. The main point about the AP is that it budgets for the 2 night excursion to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. (We have some clients have visited the Serengeti before and do not wish to pay to go again). If you dont pay the AP, you will remain in Arusha for the 2 nights and have the time at leisure to choose other options or simply to rest and relax.

    Asked on November 21st, 2017

    What is the Adventure Pass?

    Other
    • Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperatorWritten November 2017

Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
