The tour guide Marina Charcenko, I don't think she is professional at all when comes to deal with the incident, if you don't want to be left alone after your bag got stolen from inside the hotel where your tour group are stayed, with no passport, no cash, no phone and no card absolutely nothing at all except there still air for you to breathing in a foreign country even no any money to get ticket to the police station, just like you are nothing but a piece of S...t what the tour guide left behind, I suggest that you might had better to avoid the tour guide Marina Charcenko to be your guide if you joying this tour or any other tour. To be honest, this tour itself is good, if not the tour guide I would give it a five star! Below are my statement the 100% truth, take your time to read and use your own judgement, and learn from my mistake, and never make the mistake that I did, and try your best not to experience the horrible situation what I went through. In the early morning around 6:50am On 24the Dec 2024, Inside B&B hotel, hotel address 3 A 15 RUE CHARLES LEROY 94200 IVRY SUR SEINE, I left my bag in the breakfast area close to the bathroom with one of our members and tried to use the bathroom before we went, it was really quick one even I dried my hand on my jeans, properly just one minute maximum one and half minutes, but when I came out my bag was gone, I asked the one who supposed to look after my bag where is my bag, ends up she`s metal problem and can`t remember things, and the other of our member who were sitting there didn`t see anyone who took my bag, then I straight to hotel reception told my bag got stolen to see if they can check the camera for me? There were cameras where my bag was,but they refused and told me they had no authority to do it, by now Marina our tour guide came over, I told her someone stolen my bag, every thing was inside, passport, phone, cash, credit card every thing were inside, to see if she can request the hotel to access the camera, then she immediately told me the reception has no authorised to look at the camera for me, and there is no one responsible my bag, I told her I do understand of that, and it is my fault to leave my bag to others and I blem no one, I said "as things has already happened what is the next, what should I do right now? She told me my passport was gone and my holiday was over, the bus will keep going and I needed to report it to the police first then go to the embassy, the guy at the receition said I needed to wait till 9am to go to the police, I didn`t believe it at first I thought you can go to the police at anytime, so I asked my tour guide Marina and she told i do had to wait till 9am so I believed, how could i not to believe as she is tour guide ( I only found it late from the hotel manager her name is Kadidja it`s not true,I can go there at anytime, when the incident happened the hotel manager wasn't there). She started to tell everyone loading and I was standing at the reception and I thought when they left how can I go to the police station and embassy as I have nothing on me, no identity, no money, no card, literally nothing at all except myself still breathing, I asked Marina if she could kindly lend me $50 Euro to buy tickets to go to police station, but shockingly Marina told me she has no cash on her at all, I retold her, all the things were in my bag, they all gone, I even have no an euro on me, I need some money to buy ticket to go to police and embassy, she told me I should call my family for it, I couldn`t believe what I heard, I told her my family is in Australia and I am here in French, how can they give me cash right now for the ticket? Then I said, you are not lending me money yourself, then could you please refund me $50 euro for me to buy tickets to the police which I paid cash to you earlier for the dinner and optional walking tours, she coldly told me once you paid there is no refund, it is their system. At that moment I felt frozen cold not because of the temperature, I witnessed with my own eyes how cruel a human being can be! Suddenly, I heard a voice, I have money, how much do you need? It was Kiersten from USA, she started give me all the money what she has, we just started our tour and I barely chat with her even I didn`t know her name at that time yet, you can't imagine what`s my feeling at that moment, my eyes saw the lights again and it brightened the darkness and wormed up my frozen heart, Claire mum of the daughter who I asked to look after my bag was there too during my conversation with Marina, I refused took all the money that Kiersten offered to me,I know she`s need money for herself too, I told her 50 euro is enough, then Danny, Shalom and their family from Melbourne, Neetha and her her husband Vin from USA learned my incident, and they lend me some money too, at this stage everyone already finished loading and ready to go, I realized I should lock my bank card straight away, so I asked Marina I need to access the internet to lock my bank cards, I was in hope that she could let me use her phone to do it, but she said, the bus can`t wait, they have to go, and let me figure it out with hotel, and she wrote me her phone number then left, even didn`t wait for a minute. By now, you may don`t believe what I stated above, you are more than welcome to ask the members who were there during the conversation except the part that I tried to borrow Marina`s phone, there is Kiersten from the USA and Clair from NZD. After the tour bus left on time as they scatured, I asked the the guy( black skin) to use their internet to lock my bank card as Marina told me to, he told me for the security reasons they are not authorised for the outside people to use their internet, I asked how about I use their phone to give my bank a call to report stolen card, he`s agreed but their phone only can make direct calls not functional to press sub numbers like when you call the bank, they ask you to press 1 for what and press 2 for what, I asked the guy if I could borrow his phone I will pay, at first he said yes, then he said no because his phone not functional for international calls, I was literally just standing there and feel helpless, then I saw the waitress who was working in the breakfast area walking passed and I told her that my bag got stolen if she could let me use her phone to lock my bank card, she straight away give her phone to me and told me she felt so sorry for me and letting me take time lock my bank cards. I really appreciate her kindness and wish her and her family all the best in her future. Here, I would like to thank Kiersten Withrow, Shalom Cormaty and her husband Danny, Neeha Prabhu and her husband Vinayak Prabhu and the others who assisted-me and cared about me during my difficult and vulnerable time,I really appreciate your kindness and will never forget your help and I am willing to be there for you too when you needed. My best regard to all Siqi Liu

Luke was such a fantastic tour guide, helping us find all the best spots around the cities we were visiting. He gave us so many helpful tips and made the whole tour so much more enjoyable. He brought so much fun even to the usually less interesting parts of the trip, like the long coach drives, and whenever I hear Lovely Day I’m reminded of our trip! Had the best time, thanks Luke!

What our customers ask about this tour

The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.
    • Are international flights included in the tour price?

Whilst internal flights are covered for certain itineraries, you will have to make your way to the meeting point for the start of your tour. When booking flights be mindful of departure times and possible delays.
Tip: We suggest that you start comparing prices the moment your deposit is paid to avoid costly flights.

    • Are young children allowed?

We have a set minimum age of 10 for our tours, but we're happy to consider younger children on a case-by-case basis. Just let us know your request, and we'll do our best to accommodate it. Expat Explore reserves the right to accept or decline the request at our discretion. We want to ensure everyone has a great time exploring with us!

    • Can you cater for my dietary requirements?

We make every effort to include local cuisine on our tours to ensure an authentic experience for you. You'll receive an email before the tour begins, where we'll ask for your dietary preferences. We always have a vegetarian option, and we'll work hard to accommodate any other dietary needs or preferences you may have.

    • Do I need to exchange cash before I leave?

Contactless payment is widely accepted across Europe – it’s best to bring a payment card with no overseas withdrawal fees.
      * Keep in mind that certain optionals are payable in cash to your tour leader whilst on tour. We suggest that you talk to your Tour Leader about when & where to draw cash to pay for the optional excursions.

    • If I wish to stay longer in the start or end destination, will Expat Explore assist with pre/post-tour accommodation?

While Expat Explore cannot assist with booking pre or post-tour accommodation, we recommend Booking.com for affordable accommodation options prior to and after the tour. If hotel information is available, we can provide you with the details in advance so that you can book accommodation at or nearby the start hotel. Please request this by sending a message through on the conversation page.

    • Can Expat Explore issue me with a visa?

While Expat Explore endeavours to stay current on all major entry requirements, we are not a registered visa agent. We are, however, able to make things a little easier by providing you with the required supporting documents for a visa application once your tour is paid in full. It is a requirement of the embassies that tours are paid for in full before visa support documentation is requested and applications are made. When you have made the final payment for your booking, simply reach out to our Customer Support Team to request your visa support documents and confirm which embassy you will be applying to.

    • How much spending money do I need for my holiday?

This is up to you and will vary depending on how much you wish to spend on snacks, drinks, souvenirs etc. We do not include entrance fees to attractions and museums. We do, however, provide you with free time to see everything you want, and our tour leaders will have all the information on pricing and locations so you can manage your own budget. Please refer to your tour-specific pre-departure information and optional excursions guide for further details.

    • Is travel insurance compulsory?

It's your responsibility to arrange sufficient travel insurance for your trip. When you travel with Expat Explore, both you and your personal belongings do so at your own risk. A comprehensive insurance policy should cover medical expenses for illness or accidents before or during the holiday, as well as reimbursement for lost holiday funds due to cancellation, curtailment, or other insurable events. Make sure there are no exclusions that would limit coverage for the activities included in your tour.

We generally recommend WorldNomads because they cover a wide variety of nationalities, but you are welcome to use any supplier that offers you the most comprehensive plan.

You are able to obtain travel insurance through one of TourRadars partners, XCover. Please reach out to receive a quote.

    • How fit do I need to be to join and what is the average age range?

We embrace travelers of all ages and backgrounds, prioritizing attitude and mindset over age restrictions. However, our tours are fast-paced and jam-packed with experiences. Regrettably, individuals with mobility limitations or those using wheelchairs may find this tour challenging. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring quaint towns and navigating cobblestone streets. We want every traveler to fully enjoy their journey, so we encourage reviewing the itinerary carefully before making your booking decision.

    • If I book a tour for two or more people, will we share the same room?

When you book for more than one person, we will by default group you together in the same room(s), unless you request single supplements or specifically request us not to.

If there are unequal numbers (3, 5, 7 etc.) then the remaining traveller will be roomed with another passenger of the same gender, unless you opt to add a single supplement (subject to availability) to your booking. Please note that minors under the age of 18 cannot share with another traveller outside of your group's booking.

If you are making separate bookings and would like to share the same room(s), please send us an email with the booking references for each of the travellers and the details of your preferred rooming allocation.

Can’t find the answer to your question?
Reach out to the experts at Expat Explore Travel with your enquiry, they usually respond within 9 hours.
