I'm looking at the itinerary and was wondering if Deadvlei (in Namibia) is a stop on our trip. I'd love to see the iconic tree.

Deadvlei isn't listed by name, but it is located within Sossusvlei, which is visited on Day 18. The itinerary includes a 4x4 tour into Sossusvlei, and there is usually an opportunity to walk to Deadvlei if time and conditions allow. Your leader will advise on the day.

When do I book the gorilla permit?

Discriminated and unfairly dismissed from an overland trip in Southern Africa. Both the staff and fellow travellers misjudged me too harshly and hastily, without given any chance of explaining my position over a silly, but resolvable incident. An accidental incident I must add that had virtually no threat involved whatsoever, but was still pressured and duped into terminating my remaining time on the tour and most disgracefully was offered no empathy or source of reimbursement. Intrepid let me down big time!Show more

There were things about this experience that were fantastic and others that were bothersome for me.The game parks were exceptional.There were too few cultural experiences and two few visits to artisans.Although the itinerary said to expect long days driving for me long days don't mean days driving 15 or 16 hours, taking down a tent in the dark and putting up a tent in the dark.For me 8 hours is an average day and 12 hours would be a long day.Be more specific in your notes as to what constitutes longs days of driving.On one occasion this even happened when there were new people who had to learn how to set up their tents in the dark.Zimbabwe was the least pleasurable experience of the trip.The whole issue of US dollars vs bond was not pleasant.There were places where when we were trying to buy things they would not give us the bond rate when using US dollars.This was only OK in Vic Falls where restaurants actually had menus in both bond or US dollars.We stayed way too long in Vic Falls. The food there is too limited. The only reason to be there so long is if you are an adrenaline junky which we are not.And quite honestly of our 2 or so people in our group only 4 people went and did the rafting trip and to my knowledge no one except for one individual did the other available activities.I also think we stayed too long in Swakamund.This is a very racist community and the activities didn't really suit us.Show more

  Accommodation on this trip is mainly in two-person canvas dome tents with camping mattresses supplied. Campsites do have facilities but they usually aren't to the same standard you would find in western countries. For example the bathroom facilities can be very basic. There is rarely toilet paper provided and shower facilities can be as simple as a hose pipe spurting out cold water.

  Our trucks are purpose-built, self contained safari vehicles. Transport includes overland vehicle, 4x4 Safari Vehicle, Mokoro. It is important to note that our overland vehicles are not air-conditioned, but all vehicles have windows that can be opened to allow for fresh air.

The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
