Hi Melissa, Thank you for taking the time to write this feedback. I'm very sorry that our tour and the on-ground arrangements did not meet your expectations but I'm grateful to hear that you felt well looked after and safe with our guide and enjoyed the company of your fellow travellers. Allow me to express my apologies again in regard to the night when a double room was arranged instead of the required twin room. This was clearly an operational error for which I take full responsibility and I'm very sorry for the confusion and frustration this might have caused. I'm glad, however, that the hotel was able to solve the situation immediately. Thank you for pointing out that the ensuite arrangements were not met one day. Our aim is to provide ensuite bathrooms for every room and I'm sorry to hear this has not been met in this case. At times due to capacity and besides the fact, that we are booking accommodation along the trail months in advance, our requests sometimes can not be met because these are all boutique-style accommodations. Certainly, this should have been communicated to us the operator beforehand and I will follow up with the hotel accordingly. Melissa, I'm sorry that you don't agree with our philosophy of reducing the impact on the environment. I hear your argument about our guests flying thousands of miles to participate in our trip, something we do not have a direct influence on. We do however reduce your carbon imprint caused by this through our carbon offset program we have in place for each trip. Sadly, at this point in time, that is the only tool available to us that has a small impact on the air travel footprint of our guests. However, as I mentioned earlier, along the Tour Du Mont Blanc, glaciers are threatened and roads are being closed in fear of a potential collapse of overhanging glaciers, like in Val Ferret. Here we are trying to reduce any avoidable footprints where we can. This is why we use public buses where in place, and arrange private transport where they are not. As mentioned earlier I shared your feedback in regard to the bus situation with the Tourism Board and the bus company in Courmayuer. They regret the impact of their decision to reduce buses in September without any in advance provided information and are taking our feedback into account for next year.  I regret that it is too late to change the outcome of your tour. If I had known beforehand I would have made the necessary arrangements to deal with the situation but unfortunately, we were as surprised as you were by the number of people and the reduced number of provided tourist buses on your trip. Certainly, the safety of our guests is one of our first obligations and we will take necessary steps if the situation in September 2025 has not improved. Unfortunately, we don't have an impact on the weather and I understand that good or bad weather partially makes the trip. In our FAQ section, we share information about weather patterns during the TMB season which states that in September weather can be unstable and hikers might encounter patches of snow along the trail. To prepare for this situation and ensure the safety of our guests and guides, unlike many other companies, we provide lightweight crampons to our guests. Melissa, I'm deeply sorry and disappointed that you did not enjoy traveling with us, however, I strongly reject the accusation of cutting corners to reduce operational costs. We believe that our trip, which we crafted intending to offer a conformable and interesting tour along this magnificent iconic trail and share our passion, is great value for money.  I admit however, that our trip might not be for everyone and, certainly, we can not ask all of our guests to honour and agree with our decision and accept the consequences to reduce our impact on the environment. Melissa, I hope you find a more suitable trip next time. Safe Travels! Best regards, Irene No Roads Expeditions

Thank you Vanessa for taking the time for this review. Your trip was certainly a difficult one to manage considering poor Marco's family issues, this would have had an impact on the trip. Thanks for the tip re training. We thought we stressed this to people but some people either don't read or don't take advice. Thanks again Vanessa

    Asked on April 1st, 2025

We are interested in taking this tour Summer of 2026. We are in our mid-60's, in relatively good condition, and active. We usually walk about 5-6 miles 4-5 times per week. I have mild to moderate arthritis in one knee, but treat any discomfort with Ibuprofen. We don't have any trouble hiking at altitude below 10,000 ft. Do you think this is a tour we can handle?

The Tour Du Mont Blanc is a truly stunning trail circumnavigating Europe's highest mountain, offering breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences. Located in the European Alps, you will hike through three countries, France, Italy, and Switzerland, exploring the unique cultures and cuisine of the valleys along the way. Altitude is not really an issue on the Tour Du Mont Blanc as you will be hiking below 2600 meters.

    Transport
    • No Roads ExpeditionsOperatorWritten March 2025

There are two transportation options if your wife cannot hike: 1. Book a spot in the luggage transfer van (€35.00 per person, paid in cash to driver). 2. Use public transport, depending on trail location. Participants must be reasonably fit. Trek leader may require transfer to next destination if unable to continue due to fitness or weather conditions.

    Asked on October 18th, 2024

Would like to know more about the terrain. I have some fear of heights but there's a big difference between being high in the mountains and being on the edge of a cliff. Can you speak to this topic?

    Tour Details
    • No Roads ExpeditionsOperatorWritten October 2024

The iconic Tour du Mont Blanc is circumnavigating the Mont Blanc Massif while covering 10,000 meters of ascents and descents. You will be hiking in the European Alps on well-defined trails. There are no dangerous drop-offs along the trail but you will be hiking over a hanging bridge and climbing a 5-meter ladder (not located at a drop-off) along the trail. There is no rock climbing involved on the trail. Hiking in the mountains also involves hiking along gullies and gauges. Certainly, while some perceive these as great vistas others might find this discomforting. It depends on how severe your fear of heights is and your personal sensation.

  • E

    • No Roads ExpeditionsOperatorWritten August 2024

The Tour Du Mont Blanc is a roughly 170 km long trail circumnavigating Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc. On this magnificent hike, you will be facing 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) of ascent/descent while passing through parts of Switzerland, Italy, and France. We frequently have participants your age hiking the TMB with us. However, participants a required to be reasonably fit and are required to physically prepare for this trip for usually 5-3 months.

    • No Roads ExpeditionsOperatorWritten August 2024

While the TMB is not considered a challenging hike in regards to steep drop-offs etc, you will be facing a hanging bridge that has to be crossed on the first day. Since you mention that you are very scared of heights, even a gradient drop-off might scare you. This is something only you can judge. However, hiking in the mountains does imply some more or less gradient drop-offs along the trail while you will be rewarded with great views.
