This was the best guided tour I have ever taken! Exodus organised every thing perfectly and my Guide Jeff was superb! Don’t underestimate the challenge of this tour, you should train for at least 3 months multi day hikes! There were members of the tour who had to drop out as a result of poor preparation. However, if you are ready you have to do this tour it was beyond amazing. The accommodation was homey and had character, the lessons you learn are priceless. Amazing journey!!

Best time to visit France and Switzerland
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Our winter river cruises along the Rhine and Rhône operate year-round with climate-controlled comfort - the perfect way to see France and Switzerland when it's cold outside. From your private balcony cabin, you'll watch snow dust the riverside vineyards while staying cozy inside. Jazz-themed cruises really come into their own during winter, combining evening performances with daytime walks through quiet medieval towns. If you prefer trains, our first-class rail connections between Paris, Geneva and Zurich include stays in upscale hotels. Winter's actually ideal for visiting grand palaces like Versailles - fewer tourists mean more time chatting with local guides.

- Spring 2026
April and May transform our French and Swiss rail journeys. The Paris to Rome route gives you melting Alpine snow against white peaks - it's the right time to take that cogwheel train up Mount Pilatus. Our customers love spotting spring wildflowers along lakeside paths in Lucerne and Lausanne. Down in Provence, especially around Arles, you can join painting workshops surrounded by the same blooming landscapes that caught Van Gogh's eye. The medieval village of Riquewihr in Alsace looks particularly nice with spring flowers decorating its old half-timbered houses.

- Summer 2026
From June through September, our Tour du Mont Blanc hiking circuit comes alive. The high trails clear of snow, mountain huts open their doors and long summer days give you plenty of time to take in those massive Alpine views. For a mix of city and countryside, start with a Seine cruise in Paris, then head to Lake Geneva where you can taste wines in the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards. The Green Panorama route connects Barcelona, Paris and some serious hiking at Glacier 3000, where a suspension bridge lets you walk between mountain peaks.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
September and October bring golden colors to the Black Forest and Alsace sections of our tours. Travelers tell us they love visiting Baden-Baden and Heidelberg this time of year - you get castle tours and forest walks with red and gold leaves all around. The Burgundy wine route becomes something special as vineyards turn russet and harvest activities fill village squares. Swiss rail tours show you snow returning to the highest peaks while lower slopes show autumn colors. Our customers give top marks to the Gotthard Panorama Express in fall, when you see orange larches against snow-dusted mountains.
