Cairo
You'll arrive at Cairo Airport and get transferred to your hotel. Settle in, rest after your flight, and take advantage of the hotel's facilities to refresh yourself.

- Day 2
Cairo to Luxor
Meet your travel director, then fly to Luxor. Walk through Karnak temple complex, passing the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes and seeing the towering columns of the Hypostyle Hall. Board your Nile cruise ship for a 4-night stay. After lunch on the ship, head to Luxor Museum to see ancient artifacts and royal mummies. Dinner happens on board this evening.

- Day 3
Luxor
Take a coach to the west bank of the Nile and see the Colossi of Memnon. From there, visit the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Kings where pharaohs like Tutankhamun were buried. Stop in the village of Geziret Bahirat to share bread and stories with a local family. Check out Luxor Temple before returning to your ship. Late afternoon you'll sail via the Esna Lock heading toward Edfu for an overnight stay.

Edfu
Early morning sailing takes you to Kom Ombo and its unique double temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus. Learn about the symmetrical design. Pick your Insight Choice activity: either watch an Egyptian cooking demonstration with the onboard chef or have tea with the Captain. Tonight there's a traditional Egyptian dinner and galabeya party on the ship.

- Day 5
Aswan
Visit the Aswan High Dam and granite quarries where you'll see the enormous unfinished obelisk. Take a motorboat to Philae Island for the Temple of Isis, the last classical Egyptian temple constructed. You'll learn about traditional sailing on a Nile felucca. Have high tea at the Old Cataract Hotel, the historic spot where Churchill and Agatha Christie stayed. Return to Philae Island for the Sound and Light Show as evening falls.

Aswan to Cairo
Leave your cruise ship and have free time in Aswan. You can choose to fly to Abu Simbel to see the Temples of Ramesses II overlooking Lake Nasser, or explore on your own pace. Options include the Nubian bazaar, Botanical Gardens, Elephantine Island, or the Aga Khan Mausoleum. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo where you'll spend the night.

Walk through Cairo's Citadel of Saladin, the fortress built to defend against Crusader forces. See the Great Alabaster Mosque with its cascading domes, slender minarets, and stained-glass windows showing Ottoman influence and Muhammad Ali Pasha's vision. Then head to the Grand Egyptian Museum which holds over 100,000 ancient treasures including rare textiles, ornate coffins, and Tutankhamun's personal belongings.

Your Egyptologist guides you through Giza to see the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World. Meet the Sphinx and go inside one of the great pyramids. Travel to Memphis, the Old Kingdom capital, to see the colossal Ramesses II statue and the great Alabaster Sphinx. Continue to Saqqara for the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world's oldest pyramid from 2686 BC. Visit a local weaving school to meet skilled artisans. The afternoon is yours to spend freely.
