My wife and I went on a Trafalgar tour in California, where, if things went somewhat worse, I might have died....
My wife and I went on a Trafalgar tour in California, where, if things went somewhat worse, I might have died. During the tour, I had to go to an emergency facility to have surgery, and two days later had to go to an emergency facility again. Both times I had to fend for myself because Trafalgar did not provide medical facility or transport information to me. Both times we were given the choice to get on the bus, or take our bags and leave the tour. The Trafalgar web site states, “Your Travel Director will assist you with a doctor’s visit or hospitalization should you require.” Absolutely no specific medical facility or specific transportation service was provided. This put me in a dire situation the first time because I needed a good medical facility, and in a dire situation the second time because we were not able to find any available taxi service in the area (we ended up being driven an hour to an emergency facility by a Good Samaritan). I wrote to the Trafalgar CEO about my experience and got a response from the company which stated, “We do show that we did all that we could to assist in this situation . . .” How could any sane person state this after, among other things, we were left with our bags to fend for ourselves in a shopping center without knowing how to get to an emergency medical facility? Neither my Trafalgar travel director nor the Trafalgar corporate office was willing to admit responsibility for ensuring that I was assisted in a meaningful manner in an emergency situation, even though the web site implies otherwise. I never expected to get ill during a tour, but having had the experience, I warn you not to travel with Trafalgar if you want to ensure your well being.Show more
