10 Day Alaska Itinerary, incl. Denali and Fairbanks
Your Alaskan adventure through 6 cities includes Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Valdez. The trip features Columbia Glacier cruising, Denali National Park exploration, and gold panning with Gold Daughters. Includes 15 meals and premium accommodations like River's Edge Resort for approx. $5,600.
- Days 1-2
Anchorage & Heritage
Begin your Alaska adventure in Anchorage. Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center first thing in the morning to catch the best cultural demonstrations. A recent visitor shared: "The indigenous plant tour around Lake Tiulana was eye-opening. We learned so much about traditional medicinal uses that you won't find in guidebooks." Use this time to get used to the northern daylight patterns.
- Days 3-4
Denali National Park
Take the Alaska Railroad's dome car to Denali. The trip takes 4-5 hours. Get a seat on the left side for the best mountain views. Book your stay at Denali Park Village, located just 7 miles from the park entrance. Your best chance to see Denali peak is early morning. Remember to bring layers since temperatures can change by 30°F in one day.
- Days 5-6
Fairbanks & Gold Rush History
Next stop is Fairbanks, the gateway to Alaska's north. Try your hand at gold panning with Gold Daughters. They teach authentic Gold Rush techniques that make the experience really worthwhile. Make time to visit a working dog mushing kennel. If you're visiting in summer, bring good mosquito repellent.
- Days 7-8
Valdez & Prince William Sound
The route to Valdez goes through Thompson Pass. Take a break at Worthington Glacier if conditions allow. On your Prince William Sound cruise, pick the right side of the boat for glacier viewing. A previous visitor noted: "Watching the Columbia Glacier calve was incredible. Bring binoculars and a warm jacket even in summer."
- Days 9-10
Kenai Fjords & Seward
Drive the stunning Seward Highway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Stop at the wildlife center to see rescued Alaskan animals up close. Schedule your glacier cruise for morning when the water is usually calmer. Plan for a 2.5-hour drive back to Anchorage. Book an afternoon flight to skip morning traffic.
10 Day Western USA Itinerary, incl. Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore
This 10-day journey spans 2,000+ miles across 6 states, visiting 7 national parks including Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Yellowstone. Experience 4 dinners, 9 breakfasts, and 1 lunch while staying at properties like National Park Lodges Yellowstone and Modern Mountain Motel.
- Days 1-2
Las Vegas & Utah Parks
From Las Vegas drive about 2.5 hours to Zion National Park. One traveler suggested: "Get to Zion early - by 7 AM the parking lots fill up and shuttle lines get long." On day two visit Bryce Canyon to see its unique hoodoo rock formations. The park sits at 8,000+ feet so bring warm layers even in summer.
- Days 3-4
Salt Lake City & Jackson
- Days 5-6
Yellowstone National Park
- Day 7
Cody & Billings
- Days 8-9
Little Bighorn & Black Hills
Start early at Little Bighorn Battlefield before it gets hot. Drive to South Dakota's Black Hills to visit Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore. A traveler recommended: "The evening lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore is worth staying for - much less crowded than daytime."
- Day 10
Rapid City
End your trip in Rapid City. If time allows visit Badlands National Park for sunrise photos of the dramatic rock formations.
10 Day Alaska Itinerary, incl. Anchorage and Denali National Park
The 10-day Alaska tour takes you through Anchorage, Homer's artistic waterfront, Seward's marine life, and Denali's wilderness. Your stay includes 3 nights in Denali cabins, glacier cruising in Kenai Fjords, and cultural encounters at East Fork Bridge (Mile 43).
- Day 1
Anchorage
- Days 2-3
Homer & Kachemak Bay
Take the 4-5 hour drive to Homer along Turnagain Arm. Look for beluga whales during morning low tides. You'll find excellent halibut fishing on the Homer Spit ($200-300 per trip) and great sea kayaking options. Stay close to the Spit to easily access local galleries and fresh seafood. Book fishing trips well ahead for July and August.
- Days 4-5
Seward & Kenai Fjords
Head to Seward (3-4 hours away) to explore Kenai Fjords National Park. Take the Exit Glacier trail early for the best photos and fewer people. The full-day glacier cruise is worth your time - get seats on the left side to see glaciers calving. Start your day at the Alaska SeaLife Center before the crowds arrive.
- Days 6-8
Denali National Park
The drive to Denali takes 7-8 hours but offers incredible mountain views. Take the park shuttle to Mile 43 for wildlife watching. Bears are most active at dawn and dusk. Bring plenty of layers for changing mountain weather. One visitor noted: "The subarctic environment presentation really helped us understand why the wildlife behaves so differently here than in lower 48 parks."
- Days 9-10
Denali to Anchorage
What people love about 10-day USA tours
- Majestic Alaska
The trip was a once in a lifetime experience with so much packed into just a few days. There are some things that I thought should have been done differently but overall the trip was amazing.
- Journeys: Discover Alaska National Geographic Journeys
Good time with lots of riding in the van going to interesting places
- Spectacular Alaska!
The tour itself was fabulous. Tour guide and driver were both awesome and the sights were majestic. The food however the first few days was lacking.
