When is the best time do this trek?

The Everest Base Camp Trek can be done at any month of the year, however, it is recommended to do the trek between September and May. Generally, from June onwards it is monsoon season which can bring lots of rain showers and unpredictable weather.

What is the maximum altitude we will reach?

Everest Base Camp is located at an altitude of 5360 meters. However, if you wish to set foot on Kalapthhar, you will reach an altitude of up to 5500 meters and that will be the highest point for you with the best view of Mount Everest.

How difficult is the trek?

This trek is known for being a moderate trek, do not worry you do not need any special training however you do need to be able to walk about 5/6 hours a day.

Is it really necessary to have an acclimation day during the trek?

It is very important to have an acclimation day during the trek, this allows your body to adapt to the rising altitude.

What is the luggage limit on the plane to Lukla?

The Lukla flight is based on a smaller aeroplane so due to this, you are only able to bring 11kg of luggage with you. Any other luggage you have with you which you do not need for trekking will be able to be left in Kathmandu. If you have any further questions about this please contact our team of Travel Experts.

Is travel insurance compulsory for this tour?

Travel insurance is always highly recommended when travelling to cover you for any circumstances that may arise and it is a requirement for this tour.

What kind of weather can I expect during the trekking?

The weather can vary depending on which month you decide to travel however if you plan on trekking in winter you should expect it to be less than -10C outside at night. During the day you will find it fairly warm as you will be walking for a few hours at a time.

What is the risk of getting altitude sickness?

It is hard to define when or who will get altitude sickness whilst completing a trek as altitude sickness is very unpredictable and can affect even the fittest of people. However, it is important to note that around 99% of trekkers can do the Everest Base Camp Trek without problems. Do not worry if you do begin to feel unwell just make sure you let a representative know so the appropriate steps can be taken to get you back to yourself in no time.

What happens if I get altitude sickness on the trek?

A general headache and cough can be very normal in the mountain due to the colder weather and higher altitude however if you are unsure or feel really unwell make sure you let a representative know and they will guide you down to a lower altitude.

Will there be charging facilities on the trek?

There will be charging facilities at the tea houses you will visit however there can be an extra charge to use them which normally ranges from 3-5USD per device.

Our guide, Shankar was very knowledgeable and we trusted his judgement and expertise 100%. Being that we are older, we always felt Shankar looked out after us. Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 15th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 15th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Scenic Nepal Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
