We believe it is important to address this review with the full context, particularly for future travelers who may read it and understandably want to know exactly what happened. The correspondence between the traveler and our team clearly documents the timeline. On March 3, he contacted us asking: “Are we able to postpone or cancel the tour?” We responded on March 4, explaining that tourism operations in Egypt were continuing normally, his tour remained confirmed, and the accommodation, Nile cruise, domestic flights, guides, transportation, and other services had already been secured through our suppliers. He then requested a full refund under our “Cancellation by Us” policy, referring to the U.S. “DEPART NOW” communication that he has attached to his review. We explained that this policy applies when Holiday-In-Egypt officially cancels a departure, which we had not done. The U.S. guidance itself was subsequently changed on March 4, with Egypt excluded, while tourism operations in Egypt continued. We respect that the traveler had genuine concerns, particularly as he was traveling with his family and a 12-year-old child, but his decision not to travel did not mean that the operator had cancelled the tour. By March 3, his booking had already been substantially committed. Accommodation, flights, transportation, guides, cruise arrangements, and other services had been secured. Some accommodation had been purchased through third-party suppliers whose funds were no longer recoverable. These are real costs that do not disappear when a traveler decides to cancel. Despite the applicable cancellation terms, we repeatedly offered a 50% refund as a goodwill gesture. Even providing 50% back would have resulted in a significant financial loss to our company, but we were prepared to accept that loss in an effort to find a reasonable solution. The traveler declined the offer and continued to request a full refund. It is also important not to confuse his situation with our handling of April departures. We offered date changes for April bookings because those arrangements had not yet been secured when the regional situation developed on February 28. His March booking was already committed, making the same date-change option financially and operationally impossible. The traveler subsequently initiated a chargeback and escalated the matter to pre-arbitration. We provided the booking records, supplier documentation, airline documentation, and supporting evidence requested. Following review, the dispute was decided in our favor by the traveler's own financial institution. This is a significant fact that is completely omitted from the review. We therefore strongly reject the allegation that we supplied “false documentation.” The airline allegation is particularly important to clarify. Nile Air was the operating carrier, while Nepal Airlines appeared as the marketing carrier through a codeshare arrangement. This is standard airline-industry practice. Tickets issued through global reservation systems such as Galileo can display both the marketing and operating carriers. The appearance of Nepal Airlines next to the flight does not mean that Nepal Airlines was operating the domestic flight, and it certainly does not make the ticket fraudulent. We also did not simply “keep the money.” Significant funds had already been committed to hotels, airlines, cruises, transportation, guides, and other suppliers, some of which were non-refundable and unrecoverable. We explained this to the traveler and nevertheless offered 50% back as a substantial goodwill concession. We understand that circumstances can change and that travelers may decide that they are no longer comfortable traveling. We respect that decision. What is not accurate, however, is portraying the consequences of that decision as evidence that Holiday-In-Egypt acted dishonestly or refused to provide reasonable assistance. The documented facts are straightforward: the traveler asked to postpone or cancel; we explained the cancellation terms and the costs already committed; we offered a substantial 50% goodwill refund; we offered date changes where they were genuinely possible; we provided the requested documentation; the airline ticket was legitimate and reflected a standard codeshare arrangement; and after the traveler pursued a formal payment dispute and pre-arbitration, his own financial institution ultimately decided the dispute in our favor. We respect every traveler's right to share their experience. However, future travelers also deserve to know the complete facts rather than relying on allegations that are inconsistent with the documented record. We stand firmly behind our handling of this booking, our documentation, and our commitment to treating travelers fairly and transparently.
