Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi
You'll arrive in Nairobi and meet up with your tour leader and group around 6pm. After introductions, everyone heads out for a group dinner where you'll get a proper Kenyan welcome and start getting to know the other travelers before the real adventures kick off.

Landmarks Nairobi - Day 2
Nairobi to Masai Mara
You'll start with about seven hours of overland travel to reach the Masai Mara, arriving in the afternoon. Once there, jump into a game drive across the grasslands where you'll see wildebeest, gazelles, zebras, and buffalo moving around freely. If you're traveling between mid-August and late October, you'll catch the dramatic migration when thousands of animals cross the savannah.

- Day 3
Masai Mara
This is a full day in the Masai Mara with a game drive to really maximize your wildlife spotting. You'll have lunch at a quiet spot where you can sit and look out across the plains, then continue exploring the reserve.

- Day 4
Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you'll leave the Masai Mara and drive roughly 4 hours 40 minutes toward Lake Naivasha. Along the way, stop in the Loita Hills to visit the Maasai village of Tepesua, where you can watch traditional warrior songs and dances and learn about their training practices. Once at Lake Naivasha, take a boat out on the water to look for wildlife and head to the hippo pool to see these creatures in action.

Landmarks Lake Naivasha Loita Hills - Day 5
Lake Naivasha
Get your hiking boots on for a three-hour hike up to Crater Lake where birdlife is plentiful and you might spot giraffes or zebras. The walk takes you to the hilltops for views across the lake. Back at camp, you'll have lunch, and then head to Elsamere, the former home of naturalist Joy Adamson (who wrote Born Free). Spend time there having high tea on the grounds with Lake Naivasha as your backdrop.

- Day 6
Lake Naivasha
Start the day at Hell's Gate National Park, a smaller park where zebras, giraffes, and leopards live. Visit the Maasai cultural centre to learn about their way of life and traditions. You can either take a game drive through the park or rent bikes to explore on two wheels if you're willing to pay locally. Later in the afternoon, relax at the beach or hotel pool, or walk around the nearby villages if you prefer to stay active.

Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru
Leaving Lake Naivasha behind, you'll travel an hour to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. You'll have time for an afternoon game drive (up to three hours) to look for lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras and buffalo.

Lake Nakuru to Eldoret
Your journey toward Uganda begins with a five-hour transfer to Eldoret in Kenya. Along the route, you'll see some great views of the Great Rift Valley, especially from Church Rock viewpoint, which sets you up for tomorrow's drive into Uganda.

Kenya to Uganda - Jinja
You're transferring 155 miles (250km) to Jinja, Uganda, which takes about eight hours and includes crossing the Malaba Border. The border crossing moves slowly at times, but you'll have enough time to get through. Jinja sits on Lake Victoria's shores and is known as Uganda's adventure capital, with white-water rafting and other activities drawing people from all over.

Landmarks Lake Victoria - Day 10
Jinja
This entire day is yours to choose what to do. White-water rafting in Jinja is considered some of the best around, with half-day and full-day trips ranging from calm sections to intense rapids like Big Brother, Overtime and Silverback. Another option is to visit the source of the White Nile if you prefer something calmer.

Jinja to Mbarara
You'll make a long seven-hour drive to Mbarara, which puts you in the right spot for chimpanzee tracking tomorrow. During the drive, you'll cross the equator where your tour leader shows you some interesting experiments along the way.

Kalinzu Forest
Deep in Kalinzu Forest, you'll spend three to four hours tracking chimpanzees with experienced guides. You'll listen for their calls as you trek through the forest, and you might see colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons and different bird species. The ground gets steep and muddy sometimes, though chimps usually stay on flatter areas.

Landmarks Kalinzu Forest - Day 13
Kalinzu Forest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You'll travel 185 miles (300km) to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where mountain gorillas live. The journey takes five to six hours with some stops included.

- Day 14
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You'll have a full hour with a mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat, an experience that stays with you. After a safety briefing, you're assigned to a gorilla family and trek through dense undergrowth on irregular terrain with steep slopes. Plan on at least three hours of walking on muddy ground. Adult males can weigh up to 430 lbs and reach 5 feet 7 inches tall, though they're gentle and not aggressive unless provoked.

Kigali
An early morning departure gets you to Kigali airport in Rwanda. By afternoon, you'll say goodbye to your group as the tour wraps up. If you want to stick around and see more of Rwanda, your sales representative can help arrange an extended stay for you.
