The tradition with overlanding is that prices are based on sharing a tent with another same sex traveller. You can though request a tent to yourself and we are usually always able to accommodate this if we know in advance without extra payment, so please note this when booking if it is important.

The Week in Gorilla Lands includes a gorilla permit and entry to the gorilla parks in the price of the tour. It also includes entry, game drive and game cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Your safari price covers: THE CORE HIGHLIGHTS:- * Gorilla permit * Entry into Queen Elizabeth National Park including a guided game drive * Game cruise on Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park CAMPING, BREAKFAST AND DINNER - 5 nights camping and 2 nights dorm stay whilst at the gorilla parks - 7 breakfasts and 7 dinners including a local meal Transport in a fully equipped and dieselled expedition truck/vehicle including all camping and cooking gear, a fridge, gas cooker, sleeping mats, tents etc. The services of a driver and safari leader. The ongoing advice and back up from The Absolute team. All road tolls and taxes are paid There are however, visas that you will need and additional optional excursions to add on if you wish.

I noticed that this trip includes a Gorilla Permit? Does this mean there are no additional costs?

Yes this trip includes the gorilla permit as well as a game drive and game cruise in Queen Elizabeth NP, so there is no extra cost for this.

When we booked our tour it stated on the website that there would be a maximum of 16 people joining the trip, so we...
When we booked our tour it stated on the website that there would be a maximum of 16 people joining the trip, so we were surprised to find ourselves in a group of 28 people (and obviously we weren't the only ones in the group thinking it would be a smaller group). Also that it was a hop on tour was not clearly visible for us and those starting the tour with us in Entebbe. The camping was very nice with good tents but the accommodation in the hostels was horrible. At one point there were only 2 toilets and 2 showers for 28 people and the bunkbeads were not save. The mosquito nets didn't cover the bed and as there were holes in them. Even if it's clear the standard is not the same as in Europe there should be at least enough sanitary rooms and save beds. The food was mostly English breakfast and the vegetarian food was always mixed with some kind of vegetarian meat which for us was not needed. A bit more diversity would have been good. The gorilla tracking was extremely exhausting and obviously not for beginners! But to see the gorillas was worth the effort!Show more

We are sorry to hear you were surprised by the number of people on your tour as we do always aim to be very transparent and the Week in Gorilla Lands page on the Tour Radar website does state Max Group Size as 28. In the same way, we specifically detail in the predeparture information you receive upon booking that our overland safaris are comprised of components and you will find other travellers on the truck that will just travel with us to see the gorillas, as well as others who joined earlier to spend time by the White Nile or in Kenya and others who will stay on to travel into Tanzania and further afield. By operating in this way we can guarantee that we will never cancel a trip for our clients due to lower numbers as it will always be necessary for the truck to travel the full route. It also enables friends and family members who can't always commit the same amount of time or money to their trip, to travel together for a section of the tour. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the camping which makes up the majority of the accommodation on this tour. The dorm accommodation in Kisoro is in a local guesthouse where standards are not the same as in the west and options are limited, although we find our clients are usually very happy based here whilst they explore the local town and partake in the exciting activities in the area. In light of your comments though, we will address your concerns with the guesthouse managers. In terms of food, we are able to cater to all dietary types but do point out in our tour information packs that it is often difficult to access a wide variety of fruits and vegetables on the road as these are seasonal, as well as fresh meat which can be hard to source, and the diversity we are exposed to in the west is just not available in the areas through which we travel. The tour leader will always listen to clients' preferences and try their best to provide varied and interesting meals for the duration of the tour. Thank you again for your comments.

Wow, wow wow! Given the low cost of this tour I was worried it might not live up to my expectations, but the dates worked perfectly so I thought what the heck. Well it didn't live up to my expectations, it exceeded them! Now don't expect any bells and whistles on this tour, you won't get that. What you will get is to enjoy amazing experiences, meet incredible people and see a slice of the real Africa! The Gorillas are obviously the highlight of the tour but there are so many more understated experiences that will leave you, just like me, saying "WOW"!! If you can try and get on a tour with Derek and Angelo. Two of the most delightful gentleman to exsist on this planet! They made this trip as far as I am concerned! They are an amazing team and looked after the crew in every way possible, with the right balance of freedom and guidance. I'm jealous of those who got to spend more time with these two!! Lastly, if time allows, add on some extra legs. Eight days just wasn't enough!!Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before July 5th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after July 5th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Absolute Africa. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
