Accommodation on this trip is mainly in two-person canvas dome tents with camping mattresses supplied. Campsites do have facilities, but they usually aren't to the same standard you would find in Western countries. For example, the bathroom facilities can be very basic. Toilet paper is rarely provided, and shower facilities can be as simple as a hose pipe spurting out cold water. Wild camps have no facilities at all.

There are a few things I wish I had been informed before the trip: 1. Visa for both Kenya and Tanzania; 2. Bring sleeping bags, towels and toilet paper (this is esswntially a camping trip); 3. Plenty of small bills of USD be cause it's the preferred currency from tourist. As long as you are well-prepared, this is a tour if life time!Show more

I have given this rating as I found the first two days in Kisii and Lake Victoria a complete waste of time. Effectively these days were literally pure travelling on the vehicle. No real experiences to be gained...... especially when coming off the Kenyan Wildlife Experience. 6-7hours backtracking to the same region where I was on the last day of my previous tour.... When you sell the 15 day Masai Heartlands Tour, you don't expect to be backtracking. Also, the lack of Game Drive by 4x4 in Serengeti was a real disappointment. The overland vehicle should not be used for any game drives. The vehicle is soooo loud and noisy, it scares off the wildlifeShow more
