  My clients want this trip but only end of march / beggining of april. why is there no availability?

    We've checked our booking system and can currently only see departures starting from May for this trip. Unfortunately, we don't have any departures scheduled for late March or early April at this stage. While we're unable to confirm the specific reason, this may be due to seasonal scheduling, operational planning, or the trip not being offered during that period. If your clients are flexible with their travel dates, we'd be happy to discuss the available departures from May onwards.

  Is there an option for helicopter flight over Victoria Falls?

    On Day 8 you will have a full free day in Vic Falls until 6pm where there will be another Welcome meeting for some new group members who will be joining on for the second half of the tour. This would be the best day to arrange your helicopter flight over Vic Falls. If you are interested in the optional helicopter flight (12 minutes or 25 minutes), Intrepid only endorses Zambezi Helicopter co CAA Zimbabwe. This can be pre-booked by your prior to your trip or the leader can assist you with booking this once in destination but it is subject to availability.

    This trip comes with a mix of camping and lodge stays. During the camping nights, our crew will set everything up for you — tents, sleeping mats, and sleeping bags. Towels and toiletries aren't included, so it's best to bring your own.
    
    We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle (at least 1 litre). Our vehicles carry large tanks of treated water, so you can refill your bottle daily.
    
    Regarding borders - yes, there will be a visa checkpoint at each crossing.

    Can you please describe me the accommodation be like. What sort of bed we're using? If you have photo that would be great. We are planning to travel in May or June 2026.

    Accommodation & Bed Types
    This trip includes a mix of camping, permanent tents, and lodge/hotel stays. Here's a quick breakdown:
    
    Hotel (2 nights) – Standard twin-share rooms, beds vary by property but are typical hotel-style beds.
    
    Lodge (1 night) – Comfortable lodge rooms with proper beds.
    
    Meru Tent (1 night) – Large walk-in canvas tents with camp beds.
    
    Permanent Tented Overland Camp (2 nights) – Pre-set tents with camp beds and shared facilities.
    
    Camping with facilities (5 nights) – Dome tents + sleeping mats and sleeping bags (all provided). Shared campground ablution blocks.
    
    Tented Camp (2 nights) – Safari-style tents with basic camp beds.
    
    Basic Camping with no facilities (2 nights) – Dome tents + mats + sleeping bags; very simple overnight stops.
    
    For all camping nights, tents, sleeping mats, and sleeping bags are provided, and the crew handle the setup for you.
    If a campsite has upgrade options, you may be able to purchase a room locally (usually USD 60–120 per twin room per night), but this cannot be pre-booked.
    
    Meals Included
    Yes — the included meals are prepared by your crew chef and camp team during camping sections. You'll eat a variety of fresh, hearty meals such as:
    
    Breakfast: toast, spreads, cereal, eggs or pancakes, tea/coffee
    
    Lunch: sandwiches with salad fillings, fruit
    
    Dinner: BBQs, rice dishes, pasta dishes, and sometimes local favourites like ugali & stew
    
    On non-camping nights, you're free to choose your own meals.
    If you have dietary requirements, let me know so I can add it to your booking — and please remind your crew at the welcome meeting.
    
    Vaccinations
    Here's a simple overview, but please make sure to check with your doctor for personalised medical advice:
    
    Required (depending on travel route):
    
    Yellow Fever – Mandatory if arriving from a Yellow Fever risk country (e.g., Kenya). You may be asked to show your vaccination certificate at borders and even when returning home.
    
    Recommended:
    
    Malaria prevention medication – May be advised depending on your itinerary. (Mosquito protection is essential.)
    
    Typhoid – Recommended for travel in Zimbabwe.
    
    Routine travel vaccines such as Tetanus, Hep A, Hep B — your doctor will advise.
    
    Dengue – No vaccine required; just mosquito protection.
    
    If you develop fever-like symptoms during or after the trip, it's important to seek medical attention immediately.

  I am coeliac - gluten free. I always get classed with vegan/vegetarian. I am not either of these and more often than not they can eat gluten. I eat fish a little meat cheese eggs etc. How would you be able to cover me

    We can absolutely inform our local team on the ground about your coeliac/gluten-free requirements. While you're not vegetarian or vegan, we'll make sure your needs are communicated clearly so that you're not mistakenly grouped with other dietary preferences that don't suit you. Your trip crew will plan meals with the whole group in mind, including any dietary restrictions, and will do their best to prepare options that are both safe and satisfying for you.

    This trip includes a mixture camping, hotels, lodges and permanent tents. While camping, tents, sleeping mats and sleeping bags will be provided and the crew & camp hands will set these up for you. Hotel (3 nights), Lodge (1 night), Meru Tent (1 night), Permanent Tented Overland Camp (2 night), Camping with facilities (5 nights), Basic Camping with no facilities (2 nights), Guesthouse (1 night). There may be the occasional night stop, when we stay in the grounds of a hotel or at a campsite which may also have rooms/cabins available. In this case there may be a choice of camping or upgrading to a room. Rooms cost between approximately USD60-120 per room per night for a twin room and cannot be pre-booked.
