Is it common that passengers would get seasick? Or is it not that rough? It doesn't affect anybody?

River cruises are extremely stable, especially compared to ocean cruises. On large ocean ships sailing through places like the Atlantic Ocean or Pacific Ocean, you can absolutely feel waves and open-water movement, particularly if the weather turns rough. That's when some guests may experience seasickness. River cruises are completely different. They sail on calm inland waterways like the Danube River, Rhine River, or Seine River — where the water is naturally sheltered and smooth. There are no ocean swells, no big waves, and no dramatic rocking. In fact, many of my guests tell me they barely even realize the ship is moving! While it's always possible for someone who is extremely motion-sensitive to feel slight movement, seasickness on a river cruise is very uncommon. The ships are designed specifically for stability, and because you're sailing through protected waterways, the ride is gentle and relaxing. If seasickness is a concern for you, a river cruise is honestly one of the best ways to enjoy cruising without worrying about rough waters.

We've taken around 10 cruises on the big ships and this was our first river cruise and I expected the food to be as good or better than the big cruises. Unfortunately, this is where Amawaters fell short. The food was a disappointment for us and there weren't too many options. On a couple of occasions the dinner was below average.Show more

For tours departing after July 16th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with AmaWaterways. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 95 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- The following cards are accepted for "AmaWaterways" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- TourRadar can request AmaWaterways to hold spaces for you for up to 48 hours without any credit card details.
