- Day 1
Tarangire National Park
Your safari kicks off with a drive to Tarangire National Park, where you'll find one of the largest concentrations of elephants in Tanzania. The park's signature baobab trees dot the landscape, and the Tarangire River serves as the only permanent water source, drawing thousands of animals to its banks for game viewing. You'll settle in at your lodge outside the park and have the evening to rest up before things get busier tomorrow.

- Day 2
Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you'll head through the cooler highland region and reach the southern Serengeti plains by midday. This is Tanzania's largest national park, and it's got everything from short grass plains to thick bush and swamps. Keep an eye out for predators hunting around the distinctive rocky outcrops called kopjes, and your guide will fill you in on the famous annual migration that passes through here. You'll be staying at a lodge right inside the park.

- Day 3
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
You'll have time for one more game drive as you leave Serengeti in the early afternoon, then head toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Part of today includes visiting a traditional Maasai boma where you can see how the local Maasai people actually live. By evening, you'll be at your lodge positioned on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, which gives you a preview of what's coming tomorrow.

Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you'll descend 600 meters into the massive Ngorongoro Crater for an all-day game drive. The crater holds over 25,000 large animals including the Big Five, spotted hyenas, and more than 500 bird species, so there's plenty to photograph. You'll break for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, then head to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home or to connect with an optional trip to Zanzibar.
