Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Windhoek

You'll arrive in Windhoek and head to your hotel on your own. At 2 pm, meet up with your guide for a briefing about the trip ahead. After that, you'll have time to walk around and check out some of the city's main sights. For dinner, you're free to choose where to eat, though Joe's Beerhouse Restaurant is a popular option if you want a recommendation.

    Hotel

    Included Activities

    • City tour and sightseeing in Windhoek
    • Meet guide and fellow travelers

    Optional Activities

    • Dinner at Joe's Beerhouse Restaurant
  2. Day 2

    Windhoek to NamibRand Nature Reserve

After leaving Windhoek, you'll drive roughly 410 to 450 km into the Namib Desert. The next two nights take place in NamibRand Nature Reserve, where you can choose between Greenfire Desert Camp if you're doing the camping option or Kronenhof Lodge for a more traditional accommodation setup. Both locations put you in a remote desert setting with incredible dark skies for stargazing at night. The drive itself is long, so expect to spend a good portion of the day on the road before settling in. Once you arrive, the isolation and quiet of the desert creates a real contrast to life back in the city, and there's not much around for miles, which is exactly the point here.

You'll have free time during the day to rest at camp or explore on your own. Later in the afternoon, head out for a desert drive and stop for a sundowner as the sun sets. On the way back to camp after dark, keep watch for nocturnal animals moving around.

Then you'll see Deadvlei, a white clay pan scattered with old petrified trees that create quite a visual contrast. Sesriem Canyon is next, a gorge about 100 meters deep with striking ochre and rust-colored walls. You'll finish the day back at your accommodation with dinner.

Once you arrive, spend time exploring this coastal town with its German heritage, wandering the cobbled streets and checking out the pastel-colored buildings.
