Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Frankfurt

You'll arrive in Frankfurt and make your way to the cruise ship waiting on the Main River. After getting settled in your cabin, spend some time exploring the ship's decks and amenities before it pushes off at 10:30 PM. This gives you a chance to find your way around and maybe grab dinner onboard before departure.

  2. Day 2

    Rüdesheim

The ship pulls into Rüdesheim at 5:00 AM, and you'll have the whole day to walk through this riverside town. The main draw is Drosselgasse, a 144-meter pedestrian street that's considered the heart of Rhine Romanticism with its half-timbered buildings and local character. You can wander past stately homes and old fortifications at your own pace, grab lunch at one of the local spots, and soak in the atmosphere before the ship departs at 8:00 PM.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Optional Activities

    • Visit Drosselgasse
    • Explore stately homes and fortifications
    • Try traditional Rüdesheim coffee

  3. Day 3

    Speyer

The ship pulls in at 07:00, which means you've got the full day in Speyer, a town that's been around for about 2,000 years. Head straight to the UNESCO World Heritage cathedral when things open up - it's one of Germany's most significant High Romanesque buildings and worth the time. After that, walk through the medieval town center, which is actually Germany's oldest planned medieval layout. You'll want to grab lunch somewhere in town before heading back to the ship around 19:30 for departure. Note that depending on availability, the port might be Germersheim instead, so check your final paperwork closer to your trip date.

    Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (À la carte dinner (A-ROSA ALEA, CLEA and ALVA); table reservations not possible)

    Optional Activities

    • Visit Speyer Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
    • Explore the medieval town of Speyer
    • Guided tours of historic sites (if available)
    Landmarks

  4. Day 4

    Breisach

The ship arrives in Breisach at 1:30 PM, perched dramatically on a clifftop overlooking the Rhine. Head up to Münster Sankt Stephan, the cathedral positioned high above town with its notable art collections. If you're interested in wine, there's an optional visit to Geldermann, a sparkling wine producer located here. Grab dinner onboard, and then the ship departs at 11:30 PM.

  5. Day 5

    Basel

You arrive in Basel at 8:00 AM. Switzerland's oldest university is here, and the medieval old town has characteristic staircases and the Gate of Spalen worth seeing. The city has 27 museums if you want to dive deeper into art and history, or you can just wander the streets and check out the riverside areas. Since the ship stays overnight, you can take your time and not rush back.

Once there, walk through the medieval streets lined with half-timbered houses and visit some of the elegant city palaces. If you want views across the city, climb up to the cathedral viewing platform. After exploring, head back to the ship before it leaves at 10:00 PM.

The place has this relaxed vibe that locals take real pride in, and there's plenty to find walking through the old streets. Your ship departs at 11:00 PM, so you've got the whole day to get a feel for Mainz before heading back to board.

Service on board was excellent! Waiters and room service were great. But entertainment wise was rather poor. Cruise was was advertised as German and English mostly German was used. Out of 38 minutes in German, English was use for 3 minutes?? WE had to ask for some translation.. The Cruise administration and presentation on adverting are very misleading. Premium All-Inclusive is just a misleading name and I think it is not the right name for a package!!! Even to have a reserved seats for meals we were asked for daily fee!

This review is about a 7-day river cruise, not a guided tour. The Moselle River is a scenic delight, with vineyard-covered hillsides, charming villages, castles and chateaux. Our boat was the A-Rosa Silva. About 180 passengers. All meals buffet style. We ate very well. The wines included in Premium all-inclusive were mediocre. We knew from a previous A-Rosa cruise that most passengers are German and non English speaking. We missed not having anyone to talk with other than one couple with whom we sometimes shared a table at meal times. The boat did not have very effective AC. The dining room could get pretty uncomfortable. We sometimes took our plates up on deck, and that was lovely. We learned to keep our cabin shades down and curtains closed during the day when we were on the sunny side.
