Does this involve a lot of walking? Which 3 star hotel are we staying in?

Regarding walking, the Nice old town walking tour is around 2-2.5 hours or so, and the Monaco-Monte Carlo walking tour is around 2.5-3 hours. Of course you can leave the tours at any time if your husband gets tired. Neither of them are strenuous tours however and the walking is at a slow pace with lots of stops. We use several hotels, depending on availability, but typically the 3-star option is the Ibis Nice Centre Notre Dame.

Would you recommend it for a 44 year old (young at heart!) woman? As far as I can tell, the group activities / excursions are the only times when I would meet the rest of the group - is that right? I would like interaction with others at times!

If you're looking for a social experience we would recommend the hostel option as that'll be your best chance for meeting others (and the hostel offers nightly things like a pub crawl, activity nights, happy hour, etc.).

Can you send me costs for both 3 and 4 star?

Yes of course! For the specified weekend of the 11th of September we'd just need to know if you're interested in a single/private room in the hostel option, the 3-star hotel or 4-star hotel. Once you let us know that we can send you the supplement price.

In the day to day itinerary it lists what is included. Thursday - nothing planned (in order to accommodate arrivals at all times). Check in to hostel or hotel (depending which package you select). Friday - morning guided walking tour of Nice's old town. Afternoon 1 hour scenic boat cruise along the coast to Villefranch sur Mer and Cap Ferrat. Free evening. Saturday - morning departure to Monaco-Monte Carlo for guided tour. Free time from afternoon to stay in the city, go to the beach, etc. Round trip train included. Free evening. Sunday - end of trip, check out of accommodations. Regarding accommodations, we use several different properties in the heart of Nice (the package is 3 nights). It just depends on the weekend and availability. All properties are high quality, modern and centrally located and walkable to all sights, the beach, nightlife, etc.

The tours included in this French Riviera weekend are advertised as walking tours and do last approx. 2.5-3.5 hours each (Nice old town and Monaco-Monte Carlo) and we include this information as well as recommend a comfortable pair of walking shoes to all clients. Without a few hours of walking, it's not possible to see about 90% of the highlights you saw. We were happy to hear from our correspondence during the trip that you said you had really enjoyed the guides.

And as we are a tour & activity provider, we do not have any control or ability to determine who you meet as (especially if you attend as a solo traveler) or how friendly others are at the accommodations or on the tours. We of course always hope that our solo traveler customers will meet some like-minded friendly people.during the trip and can share some great memories together.

The walking tour of Nice does accept walk up bookings, and that allows them to advertise it also as a "free" tour (and those that join of course do pay to the guide after the tour) but we do pay to the tour company in advance for your spot. As a solo traveler, the tours are of course not private (1 on 1), and are with other travelers booked with us, and/or other general travelers (and that's a fun part of the trip is the chance to meet other travelers if you want!). Just had a trip around Nice, France and Monaco and it was an absolutely incredible experience: - for me the best part of the trip is the walking trip in the old town of Nice with aristocratically built houses. The artistic architecture of the buildings like town hall, fountain or cathedrals and the detailed carved statues and sculptures was simply a mesmerizing sightseeing. Apart from that, one can also find themselves hypnotized in narrow, steep alleys surrounded by colourful tall houses. This is really a place for someone who loves taking picturesque photos of old time European buildings, or for someone who just wants to escape from the city life. - also to mention is that Nice has a really lovely and beautiful beach with crystal clear water. With the nice warm sunny weather, one could really enjoy swimming in the water there for hours. The bonus part of this is there is an old castle on the hill located just near the beach, from where one can take a panorama picture of the blue water beach on one side and the red tiled roofs of nearby houses on the other side, separated in the middle by a curvy road. - the walking tour around Monaco was absolutely amazing as well. My tour was guided by a really professional and well organizing British and he showed us a lot of sightseeing in Monaco, from an old classic castle with an old town nearby, aquarium museum, cathedral, casino to the bay with lots of majestic, shinny yachts docked in there. - Nice as well as Monaco also have markets that offer really nice and exquisite street food like sanwiches with ham and melting cheese or patisserie like a small but fine cheese cake with vanilla flavour. - and the hostel room (in Nice, France) was absolutely a comfortable and clean and quiet place to stay at the end of the day after the long, tired walking trip. Bonus part about the hostel is that they also have a really nice and cozy student-bar in the ground floor with lots of games like billiard, darts, table tennis, where everyone, especially young people can meet up there and have a conversation. I find it a really good place to meet and get to know new people and learn about the french culture. All in one, this is a really good trip for someone who would like to embrace the old European aristocratic architecture and take home lots of beautiful pictures of buildings, beaches, etc. or just want to enjoy a day at a beautiful beach. I personally would love to visit both places here again because there are still many things yet for me to discover! DNShow more

  Regarding your request for a private single room, it would be possible to upgrade. The upgrade would be a great 3-star hotel in the city center with private bathroom/shower, air conditioning. The price would be €90 per night so €270 for the supplement. It is very high season still at the beginning of September so there aren't many rooms left so please be advised of that if you want to book. If you want to book, please book the basic shared dorm hostel package and then post-booking we would send you the supplement link.
