  It was a very nice 3-day trip to the world of Tortuguero Laguna Lodge. The facilities and the service were excellent. The tour guide Walter did an excellent job. The only thing we didn't like was the return transfer. We had to take a cab from our hotel Vilas del Rio to the Wyndham Garden pick-up point. A direct pick-up would have been possible in terms of traffic. Therefore one star less. It was a wonderful three-day trip into the world of the Tortuguero Laguna Lodge. Both the grounds and the service were outstanding. Our tour guide, Walter, did an excellent job. The only thing we were not pleased with was the transfer service to and from the lodge; on both legs of the journey, we had to take a cab from our hotel, Vilas del Rio, to the designated pickup point at the Wyndham Garden.   The tour and resort were fantastic. Similar to other reviewers below, the issues I had were with Bamba (the booking agent on TourRadar). They were not very responsive when asked about pickup time. Bamba only provided an incorrect first name to the company running the tour, which resulted in confusion and delay during initial pickup. What is written in the description is not fully accurate (no second boat tour, no second walking tour through national park). Consider booking through other agents or directly through one of the resorts in Tortuguero instead of Bamba.Show more

  The way they organized this tour was so poor and frustrating. On the first day, tour company didn't send the infromation about exact time when driver picked us up and I thought they would be my hotel at 6 as a brochure said. But it turned out it was 5:30 (after we departed, they send the information). The receptionist suddenly showed up my room and the driver got angry with me because we were late. Everyday, we had different tour guides. After we landed on the island by boat, the tour guide told us that he was no longer our tour guide and we had to wait for another guide to send us to the hotel. But nobody showed up and we only knew the name of our hotel. Fortunately, one of the tourists could speak Spanish and he asked locals about the location so we finally arrived. We didn't received any description about meals, tours so you may figure out by yourself. Boat tour, bus transportation and meals were really great. The place, Tortuguero was good place to see the nature and relax with staying at the beach. Our hotel located in front of beach.Every tour guide was friendly and well-known about animals, nature and Tortuguero. (I don't recommend to travel there in January because it's rainy season.)Show more

  This was a slightly confusing tour - we had different guide every day and it wasn’t the same group of people every day. The local tour company was different from what I booked which made things at the hotel kind of confusing, as I thought I was on a tour with a company they didn’t have me down for. The itinerary I was emailed wasn’t accurate but I only found this out though last minute updates. I thought as a solo traveller I might meet people, but because each day I was out with a new group it wasn’t very social. Besides the confusion, the local guides were great and the eco lodge was fantastic. The food left a little bit to be desired, as it was very similar for every mea for three days (but this also seems typical of Costa Rica in general), but it was plentiful and I was never hungry. I would suggest the tour raises its price to include the park fee - it is clearly listed that it’s not included but there’s no way around paying it and it’s quire expensive.Show more

  Our guides were great! The transportation and the organizations was great. My only problem is the place we slept at in Tortuguero Beach. The staff was friendly but the rooms were really really basic. No air conditioner. No hot water. The water didn’t drain properly in the bathroom every time you used your small sink or the shower. Very small room too. The sheets and the room were clean. And the worst was the food. I am vegetarian. After they learn that I do not eat meat they didn’t know what to give me. The food itself was with no variety and with questionable cleanliness. My stomach got upset almost the whole time, but the last day it was the worst. I had a stomachache, diarrhea, and nausea. I even missed the last walk in the jungleShow more

  Over all a very great trip with memories to last a lifetime. I was constantly amazed at how diverse and numbers of animals that live in such a small area. Every morning you could see Capuchin Monkeys and you could hear the howler monkeys often. Many different types of birds. So many animals to name. You got to actually sleep in the heart of the jungle.Show more

  The tour was easy to organize and we enjoyed every part of it. We had Kevin and Pedro guiding us and taking us on the boat, they were amazing in their ability to find all sort of wild life, give us time to take picture or do the pictures for us, etc. The only part of the tour that we did not enjoy much was the tour to the town, it was very hot and the town is really small not much to see. It was worth walking the main street and the beach but we would have preferred to have another ride on the boat. Overall I recommend visiting Tortuguero and thank our guides. The most disappointing part of the whole experience was dealing with Bamba Experience. We left walking sticks in one of the buses and the mexican office did not help us in due time. It took them for ages to locate the driver in Costa Rica and give us a proper answer why they did not find them. So, if you loose anything in the trip Bamba experience will not be able to liaise efficiently with the operator in Costa Rica and find them. If I were to go again to Tortuguero I would contract a different operator. Show more
