    Budapest

    You'll arrive in Budapest with time to spare before the 5 pm ship boarding. After getting through the airport, head into the city and take things at your own pace. Walk around neighborhoods, stop at local cafés, grab some pastries, and take photos of interesting spots you find. By evening, you'll be settled onboard the ship for the night.

  2. Day 2

    Budapest

    This morning at the Adventure Center, pick either a guided hike up to a viewpoint overlooking Budapest or a city tour hitting Heroes' Square and a unique wine cellar. Later in the afternoon, you can join an optional guided excursion or simply wander around and see things like the Chain Bridge on your own. The evening features an onboard lecture and wine tasting led by a Certified Sommelier.

Or you can join a guided walk through Old Town to see St. Martin's Cathedral and get a sense of the historic center. After that, you've got free time to wander around the streets and parks on your own. Later in the day, head back to the ship for a cheese and wine tasting with a certified sommelier, followed by live entertainment. The boat sails for Vienna overnight.

    Vienna

    Vienna gives you several ways to fill your time. You could bike along Danube Island, visit the House of Strauss for coffee and cake, or take a guided tour of the big imperial sights like the Imperial Palace, Opera House, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Kärntnerstrasse has good shopping if that appeals to you, and biking around the city works too if you want to explore on your own. An optional evening waltz concert is available if you're interested. After dinner, the ship heads to Dürnstein.

    Dürnstein - Wachau Valley - Ybbs

    You'll start by picking between a guided hike up to castle ruins for views across the region or a guided walk that covers the story of King Richard the Lionheart's time imprisoned here. After that, head to the Sky Deck and settle in as the cruise moves through the Wachau Valley, passing vineyards and small villages on the way to Ybbs. In the afternoon, you've got choices to make: take a pastry workshop and visit a bee farm, walk through Artstetlen Castle, tour the Benedictine Abbey in Melk, or go with a cheese and wine tasting led by a sommelier. The cruise continues overnight toward Linz.

While you're sailing through, there's a chocolate and wine tasting on board with a certified sommelier. You can choose between hiking from Oberhaus down into the valley or taking a guided walk through Passau's old cobblestone streets and Artists' Alley. St. Stephen's Cathedral is worth seeing if time allows. In the evening, you'll dock in Vilshofen for the night.

    We would like to thank our Statesman Attendee that took care of all our needs in our room 107. He was friendly and did an amazing job, Marisio our waiter served us with the highest respect and friendliness. Over all Avalon have very good staff and always a smile- nothing too much trouble. The ship was so clean, food was spectacular. We had a surprise group of singers Gwen and Charles who brought great entertainment. The other entertainer was amazing. Loved the top deck BBQ. We met lots of new friends aboard. Thank you Avalon for a trip well executed.
