This tour delivered what it promised and was both enjoyable and educational. Accommodation was suitable. The tour vehicle was quite comfortable for our small group of three, but I don't imagine that I would say the same if every seat had been full! Our guide/driver (Igor) did a great job, but I did worry about some of the long driving days he had to do (in terms of fatigue and everyone's safety). Local guides were varied in their performance - from excellent in Athens to uninteresting and unengaging in Sofia. (Igor did tell us that he had hoped we'd be with a different guide for this visit, but that must have been beyond his control. Given that Sofia does not have an "interesting" old town area but rather one that is dominated by communist era buildings, there is an opportunity to use a guide that lived through this era and could tell their personal story as a way of interpreting what we were looking at. We also walked straight past the most interesting-looking Russian Orthodox Church with very little comment - maybe a visit inside would add interest to this city? Our local guide here also seemed to be uninformed about what was allowable (i.e. no photography) inside the Eastern Orthodox Cathedral - our group was effectively thrown out by a cathedral attendant!). The tour could be improved greatly by extending it for an additional two nights - one in Prizren and another in Kotor. Both of these visits were a bit rushed and I felt that we could have got more out of them if we had stayed longer. Staying overnight in Prizren would also have permitted a longer visit in Tirana and sufficient time to visit the Bunk'Art museum that is a key part of Albania's story. The extra days would also have the effect of reducing our driver's long days at the wheel. We were greatly concerned that our driver had to turn around and drive back to North Macedonia after dropping us in Dubrovnik in the evening. We begged him to stay over for his own good. The safety aspects of the required driving hours need to be reviewed for both your customers and staff. I would be willing to pay the extra cost for the extra value received.
