Is there a lot of hiking and is it difficult

The tour includes only one main hiking activity, which is the Mountain of Colors (Vinicunca). The hike can be challenging because of the altitude, but you can choose an alternative if you prefer to avoid or reduce the hiking time. You have the following options: 🐎 Horseback riding – reduces the amount of walking required. 🏍️ ATV – an adventurous option that significantly reduces the hiking time. 🏍️ Motorcycle – another alternative if you would prefer to spend less time hiking. If you're not comfortable with hiking, I'd be happy to provide you with more details about these alternatives, including the additional cost and how each option works.

Since you do not require pre-tour accommodation, we would only add the extra night at the end of your trip. Once you share your international flight departure date and time, we can recommend whether it would be more convenient for you to stay the extra night in Cusco or Lima.

This was overall a good tour, but I do have a couple of things to list that weren't so great: 1) The 19 hour day. Our group was talking amongst ourselves and we generally agreed that we could have done without the stop at the pisco and lunch place. We would have preferred to have free time in one of the towns to eat lunch and gotten back to the hotel at a more reasonable hour. Also, there was zero time built in to have dinner that day. We stopped at a gas station at around 9 or 9:30 and had to make do with food from there. 2) The day we traveled to Cusco was a wasted day as we waited around to go to the airport and then didn't get to Cusco until after dark. We didn't get the promised time to rest at the hotel to acclimate to the elevation. We also couldn't get dinner anywhere but the hotel because we had to be at a 7:30 meeting with the tour guide, and we didn't get to the hotel until around 7. An earlier flight to Cusco would have been preferred. 3) The night before Rainbow Mountain we did not get back to the hotel until around 8:30 or 9:00 and still had to eat before having to be in the lobby at 4 am the next morning. It just seemed like a couple times on the tour they forgot to allow adequate time for sleep and food, two pretty basic human needs. That being said, our tour guide once we got to Cusco, Wilbur, was PHENOMENAL. I do a lot of traveling and he was one of the best if not the best tour guides I've ever had. Knowledgeable, compassionate, warm, and friendly. He was very helpful when I was nervous in Machu Picchu and even carried my jacket and my drink for me! Loved him.Show more

The only thing I would change is to spread the tour out a bit more. Making it a 9 day tour instead of 7 as there was not much down time. It's a lot of planes, trains, and automobiles to get to the Inca sites so my motion sickness was triggered. The altitude sickness is real and myself and others experienced it even when taking the recommended prescription. I only share this so people are prepared. It's not a light, restful, sort of tour. Please advise on international flights to book for this tour from us, Los Angeles CA or other airports in the US if it's more economical.

  You only need to arrange your international flight to arrive in Lima on the first day of the tour. We preferably recommend arriving around 11:00 AM, as we have the city tour scheduled for that same day(starting between 02:00 to 02:10 pm )
  
  Please note that your hotel room will be available for check-in from 3:00 PM. You are welcome to leave your luggage at the hotel while you enjoy the city tour.
  
  For the 7th day, we recommend booking your international flight after 7:00 PM. This will allow enough time for your domestic flight and transfers, helping you avoid any inconvenience or a rushed schedule.

Is there a lot of hiking and is it difficult

  The tour includes only one main hiking activity, which is the Mountain of Colors (Vinicunca). The hike can be challenging because of the altitude, but you can choose an alternative if you prefer to avoid or reduce the hiking time.
  
  You have the following options:
  🐎 Horseback riding – reduces the amount of walking required.
  🏍️ ATV – an adventurous option that significantly reduces the hiking time.
  🏍️ Motorcycle – another alternative if you would prefer to spend less time hiking.
  
  If you're not comfortable with hiking, I'd be happy to provide you with more details about these alternatives, including the additional cost and how each option works.

  There are a few important Host terms and conditions to consider:
  
  * The Host receives the same inclusions mentioned in the itinerary, with the exception of domestic/local flights.
  * The Host shares a room with another traveler. Therefore, you would need to decide in advance which traveler you would like to share the room with.
  * If you or any other traveler prefers a private room, a single supplement will apply.
  * Any optional extras or upgrades are paid by all travelers, including the Host.
  * Domestic flights are not included in the complimentary Host benefits. However, if the group reaches 16 travelers, we can include the domestic flights for you as the Host.

  Extra night in Cusco: USD 80.00
  Extra night in Lima: USD 136.50, recommended if your international flight departs early the following day.
  
  Since you do not require pre-tour accommodation, we would only add the extra night at the end of your trip.
  
  Once you share your international flight departure date and time, we can recommend whether it would be more convenient for you to stay the extra night in Cusco or Lima.

  For example, if your trip starts on December 21, 2026, you can cancel up to 61 days before the departure date and your deposit will be refundable.
  
  Starting 60 days before the departure date, the remaining balance will be due and our cancellation penalties will also apply according to our terms and conditions.

  Regarding air conditioning, during your trip you will be staying in Lima, Cusco, and Aguas Calientes.
  
  Generally, the hotels we work with do not have air conditioning. The climate in these destinations is not extremely hot compared to other regions.
  
  Cusco has a mild to cool climate, especially in the evenings and at night. Lima is generally mild and does not usually experience extreme heat, while Aguas Calientes can be warmer and more humid but is also generally comfortable.
  
  For this reason, air conditioning is not commonly necessary in the hotels included in our program.
