  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

You'll land at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport where a Sherpa Expedition & Trekking representative meets you. You'll visit Manang's Gompa, which is the largest one in the region and worth spending time in. Many trekkers stay around this area for a day or two to let their bodies adjust to the altitude before moving higher. The walk is moderate, maybe 2-3 hours.

From up there you get views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Tilicho, the Grand Barrier, Chulu West, and Chulu East all in one spot. Depending on weather and how the trail looks, you might stop for the night at Yak Kharka or push on further to Ledar. Either way it's a long day of climbing. About 4-5 hours minimum.

If conditions are good and you're feeling strong, there's an option to go one more hour to High Camp at 4800m/15,750ft. Keep an eye out for blue sheep, snow leopards, and bearded vultures. Local stories talk about griffons too. The altitude starts to feel real today.

After the pass, you descend about 1600 meters to Muktinath, passing sheep, yaks, and merchants along the way. From there a shared jeep or bus takes you to Jomsom for the night. Pokhara is a proper small city with all the amenities you need after trekking. Phew Tal lake is the big draw here. Just Completed the Mardi Himal Trek with Sherpa Expeditions, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. Despite it being the monsoon season, the trek was absolutely incredible — lush landscapes, refreshing air, and surprisingly clear views on several days! Our guide, Pemba, was outstanding. He was not only knowledgeable and professional but also kind, patient, and very attentive to our needs throughout the journey. He kept the mood positive, shared stories and insights about the region, and always made sure we felt safe and comfortable. One of the biggest surprises was catching some breathtaking views of the mountains, even during this rainy season. On clear days, the scenes were magical — like something out of a dream. The whole experience was well-organized from start to finish, and the support from the Sherpa Expeditions team was top-notch. Thank you to Pemba and the entire team for making this trek so memorable. Highly recommended — rain or shine!
