Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival to Volcanoes National Park
You'll arrive at Kigali International Airport where your guide meets you for an orientation about Rwanda and what to expect on the safari. The drive to Volcanoes National Park takes roughly 2 to 3 hours covering 116km, and you'll travel through Rwanda's characteristic rolling hills with chances to stop for photos and see the landscape. Before settling in, you'll visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to understand gorilla conservation work in the region. After dinner, you'll stay overnight at your lodge.

- Day 2
Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Community Visit
Following breakfast, you head to Kinigi park headquarters for an 8am briefing with park officials before starting your mountain gorilla trek into the jungle. The trek itself runs 2 to 8 hours depending on where the gorillas have moved, and you'll get a full hour observing them up close in their natural environment. Back at the lodge by lunch time, you'll have a hot meal and rest. Later in the evening, you'll visit Gorilla Guardians in Iby'iwacu village, a community project helping former poachers and local families. Dinner and your second night are at the lodge.

- Day 3
Golden Monkey Trekking and Departure
After breakfast, you drive to park headquarters for golden monkey trekking in the bamboo forests at Mount Sabyinyo's base. You'll search for one of two habituated golden monkey groups, with one troop having more than 80 members, and spend an hour watching them move through bamboo and interact with each other. This hike is relatively flat and much easier than the gorilla trekking. You'll then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your evening flight, and if your schedule allows, stop by the Kigali Genocide Memorial before departure.
