Itinerary
- Day 1
Pokhara to Chomrong
You'll start early from Pokhara with a morning drive to either Nayapul or Bhirethati, depending on your group size and road conditions. Once you arrive, the walk begins through local villages and farmland, gradually climbing uphill as you pass through forests. The terrain is manageable but steady, so take your time and enjoy the rhythm of walking. By afternoon, you'll reach Chomrong, a traditional Gurung village perched on the hillside. This is the last place with permanent settlements before heading deeper into the trek, so it's a good spot to get used to the altitude and meet your local guides.

After that, the trail winds through thick forests full of bamboo groves, and the air gets cooler and quieter. The trail then descends briefly toward Modi River before climbing again toward Deurali. As you gain elevation, the thick trees start thinning out and alpine bushes take over, showing you're entering a different climate zone. From here, you follow the Modi River upstream, and the water noise gets louder as you approach the valley. Machhapuchare Base Camp sits at the base of Fish Tail mountain, and arriving here marks a major milestone of your trek.

You'll pass through the Annapurna Sanctuary with its unique alpine environment, walking through short uphill sections with some flat stretches mixed in. The terrain gradually opens up as you climb, and then you'll reach the plateau surrounded by mountain peaks. The highlight comes when you spot the Annapurna Base Camp sign at about 4,095 meters (13,435 feet). Spend time here taking in the views and soaking in the moment before heading back down.

The temperature rises noticeably as you drop in elevation, and the landscape shifts back to thick forests and green vegetation. You'll pass through different climate zones throughout the day, and by late afternoon, you'll reach Bamboo settlement for your overnight stay. Your legs might feel tired from all that downhill walking, so take it steady on the descents.
