The tour was good. Just be sure to ask ALL the questions before you pay. Provider made promises they knew they couldn't keep instead of just being honest. (Number of people in the vehicle). The description in one place says tour begins in Arusha, but in the details says it will pick you up at the airport. They should remove the part about picking you up at the airport or at least tell you they are going to charge you over $100 pp for the transport to hotel BEFORE you book, not after you have paid... especially considering all the people on our tour came in on the same flight. You can find much cheaper at the airport. BUT having said that, the owner did eliminate the transfer fees when I pushed back. The driver/guide was excellent at spotting the animals. The only complaint I would say is he was quite a bit less aggressive than the rest of the jeeps while waiting for the wildebeest migration. They would always rush ahead of us and then we would need to find a spot. BUT, we always did find a decent spot. I really don't want to be too negative because overall the tour was great. There was also a mixup with our accommodations one day, which found us driving an extra hour AND throughout the entire trip 3 groups ended up staying at different locations which was time consuming in the mornings and afternoons. I think this may be pretty normal during high season. But I still can't say I would not recommend this company or the tour. Overall I think it is good value, and amazing opportunity. The 10 days gives you opportunity to see different national park reserves along the way, which is great because you are not driving directly to the Serengeti, as it is a long way away. The other parks included are well worth the visits and break up the long drive. I would do it again. Make sure you know when the wildebeest migrations are occurring (Typically July/August) if you choose to go during wildebeest birthing season just make sure you know when that occurs. The main thing is to set your expectations. You may not see every elusive animal.... but for the most part we did, except for the painted dogs. You are not going to a zoo, you are going to the natural habit of wild animals. Some places charge for water, some don't, it's never really expensive but just be mindful of it. The tour includes pretty much all meals except for the first supper when you arrive in Arusha. The meals were OK, there always seemed to be something you could eat, but not always something that was above par, but again, overall a good experience. Some were better than others. Be sure to pick up some drinks and snacks on the first drive day before you get on your way and out of civilization. The jeeps in the Serengetti are not typically windowless. There are windows you can slide back. The front ones are quite large but the bottom ones aren't as big. Once you get to a place, the drive/guide will open the top so you can stand up and watch. We met some people who were on "Luxury" tours but honestly, they were staying in the same locations as us. Only thing different was fewer people in their vehicle for what we could discern after talking with them. So, long review, overall experience was quite amazing.... just as I said, do your research before you go and ask as many questions as you know to ask.

Itinerary and guide were good. But we had 5 people in our tour and all but 2 nights we were split between 3 camps, each a hour apart. This added 6 HOURS extra car ride for us EVERY day. Very poor organization. Would not recommend

Safari with Steppe Dogs Adventure was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we would absolutely love to turn into at least a twice-in-a-lifetime experience. Tanzania superabounds of beautiful nature and a large variety of wildlife and our guides showed us so many breathtaking views, searched the horizon for huge herds and took us closer to many wild animals than we had ever dared to expect. Not to mention that any moment we felt safe, comfortable and easy - and above all: overjoyed and blessed. Credits to Steppe Dogs Adventure and our guides for an unforgettable safari (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro)

I have nothing but praise for Steppe Dogs Adventures. Our safari with them was flawlessly planned and executed. In all respects, it surpassed our high expectations. Credit for the success of our safari must go to the capable professional that planned and conducted our tour to Tanzania. Frank answered our emails promptly, asked the right questions, and assembled an itinerary that conformed to all of our requests. The accommodations they booked took us from beautiful lodges and deluxe rooms to tented camps without a glitch or disappointment. Our meals were good, and often excellent. We received excellent service, which was usually delivered with a smile. All of our nights were delightful. We savored magical, panoramic views and intimate wildlife encounters while enjoying the amenities of modern life. Our tour guide, Joseph Mashine, was exceptional. He planned our game drives and used his remarkable talents to provide us with magnificent wildlife viewing. By working hard and remaining personable throughout the many hours we spent together, Joseph allowed us to enjoy every moment of our safari to the fullest extent possible. I will always feel indebted to Steppe Dogs Adventures for giving us 9 spectacular days in Tanzania, and I am happy to recommend Steppe Dogs Adventures to those who read this post. They earned my high praise.

Couldn’t have been a better experience. Frank went well beyond the call of duty to make sure we had an amazing time. He truly is a special one and gave us lifelong memories. You won’t regret his tours. It’s the safest option going with this company in my opinion and I have been traveling the last 15yrs. Thanks again for everything Frank

Mashine was an outstanding guide. It was like he had magic eyes and an inbuilt intuitiveness to see and sense where animals would be and where to get the best viewing/picture from. By the end of the trip he had become a good friend.

I actually traveled with a group of 6 through Tanzania with Machine Joseph as our guide in July and August of 2014. I have been on 7 safaris in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Chad; enjoyed the services of many good guides, but Machine was the best guide in every possible way. He provided excellent commentary and information on the birds and animals we saw, was always courteous and prompt, and seemed to have almost a sixth sense at finding the animals we wanted to observe, but also getting us in position to take the best photos. This was especially important at the Mara River when there were so many other vehicles all vying for space along the riverbank. I hope to do another safari with my granddaughters in Kenya and Tanzania in the future and would plan far enough ahead to make sure we can get Machine to be our guide!

The best time of our lives - all the animals in their natural surroundings plus meeting the people in their villages, towns and schools. Just four of us and our guide who couldn’t do enough for us. Whole tour was really well organised.
