  Amazing 6 day journey through Sicily. There is a nice balance between the group meals and meals on our own. The tour took us to many places I would not have seen if I travelled solo. (Marsala winery, local chocolate manufacturer and the local restaurants for group meals). I specifically chose this tour for the visits to Greek and Roman archaeology sites and the tour did not disappoint. Some of the local guides were excellent, a few were difficult to understand but one can always look for historical guide books in the gift shop for full information. Our tour leader/organizer, Vincenzo, was stellar. He was very patient and kind to a large group of mostly seniors. He was always attentive to our needs and whims ( and at finding lost group members!) The food was delicious and fresh and breakfast buffets were quite lavish.Show more

The hotels used generally did not have coffee facilities in the room so I would not rate them 4 star. It would be useful if maps were provided when there is free time to roam around a town.Show more

Hotels were decent, except for the Il prencipe which I would rate as a 2 star rather than the 4 listed. The lunches were always too rushed and not of high quality. Actual touring goes for 6 days and not 8 days as described. The other two days are the day you arrive and the day you leave!Show more

  I had booked thru tourradar before in other countries, but the Italian tour operator Dimensione Sicilia - Dimsi Incoming Operator Srl had cut the corners wherever they could. The hotels in Catania and Palermo were not 4 star. At the Mercure Palermo Centro hotel the floor my room was on construction was happening and it was hot in the rooms. The second time in Catania my room at Il Principe hotel had a broken toilet seat and mold on the walls, peeling paint etc. The first room I had at the beginning of this weeklong tour was better. Solo travelers who paid a supplement need to be treated the same as a double occupancy of these rooms! For the meals which were included in this package, at one point we had fish and the same vegetable two days in a row, not much planing ahead. For the last included lunch we finally had a different vegetable, we had green beans. So it’s the tour operators duty to create variations in meal planning at the different locations and coordinate accordingly! Fish is ok, but with different vegetables or a variety of lettuce! And for all the entrance fees to the world UNESCO heritage sites we had to pay outside this tour package It wasn’t included in mine. This was an extra burden for our guide to collect it and it should have been written about in the description for this tour. In Sicily it’s either very expensive to travel these days or then I just don’t recommend this tour operator Dimensione Sicilia for these week long tour ‘Secrets of Sicily’. I definitely think I overpaid for it when I booked it well in advance. Other things to mention: gluten free options were not always gluten free; is it the skills or knowledge of the Italians? Or can’t they deliver this service to tourists? Tourists come to Sicily for a lot of different reasons and not just about the pasta dishes and food. If one can tolerate gluten, bread and pasta, I’m so happy for them. We also had a handicapped person without a personal assistant to him. That put a lot of pressure on the group and our guide. Otherwise the busdriver and guide were fantastic and the itinerary was great and we saw a lot in one week.Show more

We are sincerely sorry that some aspects of the trip did not fully meet your expectations and, above all, that the overall value of the services provided was not fully perceived. We would however like to clarify that the hotels included in the program are officially rated 4-star properties and were carefully selected also for their extremely central locations, which represent an important added value allowing our guests to fully experience the cities visited. For example, Hotel Il Principe in Catania is located inside a historic 19th-century palace, just two minutes from Piazza Duomo, in the heart of the city center. Likewise, the hotel in Palermo also benefits from a very central and strategic location. We understand that some maintenance-related aspects may have negatively affected your perception of the stay, and the issues you reported have already been promptly communicated to the hotel management so that the necessary interventions can be carried out. However, we do not believe it is correct to state that we “cut corners,” as the choice of centrally located and historic hotels inevitably involves significant costs and represents an important added value of the tour itself. Regarding the meals, we always try to offer varied menus that represent the local Sicilian culinary tradition. We are sorry if some dishes may have seemed repetitive during the tour, but we hope you were still able to appreciate the quality of the local specialties served. As for the entrance tickets to UNESCO heritage sites, we would like to point out that the tour program clearly specifies all services included and not included, in order to provide travelers with complete transparency before booking. We are also sorry to read your comments regarding gluten-free options. Dietary requirements are always communicated to restaurants and partner suppliers, although unfortunately it is not always easy to guarantee identical standards in every location. Nevertheless, we will continue working closely with our partners to improve this aspect further. Finally, we would also like to thank you for your understanding regarding the traveler with disabilities who was part of the group. Our tour guide did his best to manage the situation professionally and with attention toward all participants. Thank you again for your feedback, which we always consider valuable in helping us improve our services.
