Itinerary
- Day 1
Arusha
You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and get transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Once you're settled, there's a pre-trek briefing where you'll go over your equipment and pick up any gear you need to rent for the climb.

- Day 2
Mandara Hut
After breakfast and your final briefing, you'll drive about an hour to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate to register. The trek starts through rainforest, heading toward Mandara Hut at 2,700m. If you want, there's an optional detour to Maundi Crater for views across Northern Tanzania and Kenya. Along the way you'll spot Eucalyptus trees, various bird species, and Colobus monkeys.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
You're leaving the rainforest behind now, moving into open moorland as you climb toward Horombo Hut. The views open up to show Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Keep an eye out for giant lobelias and groundsels, which are unique plants at this elevation.

Summit Ascent and Descent to Horombo Hut
This is the big push for the summit. You'll start very early in the morning (midnight to around 2 AM) from Horombo Hut, climbing steeply through scree or snow to reach Gilman's Point on the crater rim, then press on to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, Africa's highest point. After celebrating and taking photos, you'll descend to Kibo Hut for lunch and some rest, then continue back down to Horombo Hut for the night.

Horombo Hut to Arusha
Following breakfast, you'll head down through moorland back to Mandara Hut, and then descend through the lush forest toward Marangu Gate. The lower sections of trail tend to be wet and muddy, so watch your footing. Once you reach Marangu Gate, you'll board a vehicle for the 2-hour drive back to your hotel in Arusha.
