  What time will I need to arrive at the Cusco airport and what time can I make it to the Cusco airport for departure the last day?

    The tour pickup from Cusco will be around 4:00 AM on July 12th, and the return to Cusco is scheduled for approximately 8:00 PM on July 16th. For this reason, it is ideal to plan your departure flight for July 17th to ensure a comfortable schedule after the trek.

    I was told that she should fly into Lima first then Cusco. Intake a taxi to the meeting point that will be in documentation once she has completed her booking. Am I understanding the process correctly?

    Since you are coming from an international flight, you would first fly into Lima and then take a domestic flight to Cusco. We also recommend staying at least 2 days in Cusco before starting the trek, to help acclimate and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Once the booking is completed, the documentation will include the meeting point and all other details.

    What do you recommend in terms of how many days to arrive beforehand to acclimate with altitude? Most of what I am seeing recommends 2 days in Cusco prior to hiking - hiking starting in Machu Picchu which is lowest elevation.

    Regarding acclimatization, you are correct, most travelers benefit from at least 2 full days in Cusco before starting a trek. Even though Machu Picchu is at a lower elevation, the Salkantay Trek and other treks start from high-altitude areas, so spending a couple of days in Cusco helps your body adjust and reduces the risk of altitude sickness.

    Unfortunately, at the moment there are no available Machu Picchu entrance tickets for July 23rd in any of the official circuits. These tickets are managed directly by the Ministry of Culture of Peru, and availability changes constantly depending on their system. As an alternative, we can offer the possibility of booking the tour with the last-minute ticket option. The Ministry of Culture releases new batches of tickets every day at midnight (00:00) for visits two days later, and our team will be checking the system in order to secure availability, for Circuit 3B, which is the option we will try to obtain. Please note that these last-minute tickets are subject to availability from the Ministry of Culture, so they cannot be 100% guaranteed in advance. However, our team will make every effort to secure the available option for your visit.

  I have clients in their early 30s who unexpectedly found time this July to be able visit Peru and they don't have flexibility on their dates. How does this trek work given that the circuits and Machu Picchu entrance tickets are sold out? I note one of the days at camp, there are views of Machu Picchu? Do you have an example photo?

    Unfortunately, the official permits for Machu picchu are completely sold out until August 9th. As you have two travelers in theirs 30s and they aren't flexible with the their dates I can offer you this great alternative so they can have chance to do the trek of Salkantay and also to visit Machu picchu.
    
    Alternative Option: Extra Night in Aguas Calientes + On-Site Machu Picchu Tickets
    Each day, the Ministry of Culture releases 1,000 last-minute tickets for travelers who are physically present in Aguas Calientes. These tickets are sold directly at the official ticket office in town and are valid for the following day please note this alternative is not 100% guaranteed due this process.
    
    Please kindly note the following:
    • In-person purchase: Tickets must be purchased directly at the official office in Aguas Calientes.
    • First-come, first-served: Tickets are sold in order of arrival and are subject to availability.
    • Early start required: We recommend being in line as early as 4:00 AM to increase the chances of securing a ticket.

    We do have availability for the 5-day Salkantay Trek with entry to Machu Picchu through Circuit 1A, as Circuit 2 is currently sold out.
    
    Circuit 1A allows you to access the upper part of the archaeological site, including the iconic Guardian's House, from where you can take the classic panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. This circuit also includes the hike to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire sanctuary.
    
    Circuit 2, which is currently sold out, is one of the most requested options because it allows visitors to take the classic photo from the Guardian's House and explore some of the main temples within the archaeological site, such as the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the Main Temple, as well as the urban and agricultural sectors.
    
    Regarding your question about Huayna Picchu, permits are completely sold out for all of April.

    The sleeping bag is available for an additional cost of 25.00 USD. The Machu Picchu permit is included, which covers circuit 2. If you wish to visit the mountains such as Huayna Picchu or the Machu Picchu Mountain, you will need to obtain an additional ticket for each one.

Tents: We use spacious semi-permanent dome tents (set up by our team before your arrival each day). Each tent comfortably fits two travelers, with enough room for backpacks and gear. Bedding: All sleeping pads and warm sleeping bags are provided. We also include extra blankets at higher altitudes for added comfort.

    This package includes your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu. When booking in advance, we usually include Circuit 2, which allows access to most of Machu Picchu's key areas during the guided tour. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will arrange for your access. September is considered the end of the dry season, and the weather is generally stable and favorable for trekking. Expect mostly sunny days with clear skies. Rain is rare during this season.

    Yes, we do include the Vistadome train for your return journey from Machu Picchu, which offers panoramic windows for the best scenic views. The hotel we typically use in Aguas Calientes is a 3-star property, but we can upgrade to a 4-star option if preferred. Regarding flights: unfortunately, we don't handle flights, so you'll need to arrange those independently.

    I am interested in 5 days but not glamping. The primary focus would be Micchu Picchu short Peru experience with to 104km then trek up. To include the vistadome train and Macchu picchu ticket entrance. I am hearing the tickets are sold out. Do you have tickets?

    The 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the most scenic and rewarding routes, but it's also moderately to highly challenging, especially due to the altitude and long hiking days. It can be done by people without hiking experience, as long as you're in good physical condition and up for the adventure. However, if you're looking for something more comfortable or less demanding, we'd be happy to recommend other great options — such as the Short Inca Trail (2 days) or Salkantay trek 4 days to Machu Picchu, which offer a wonderful experience with less intense hiking.

    For this trek, we provide double occupancy tents (2 people per tent). We recommend a 4-season sleeping bag that can handle temperatures down to -10°C (14°F). We provide clean, private eco-toilets at each campsite. Horses will carry your duffel bag (up to 7 kg or 15 lbs). Recommended clothing includes layered clothing, base layers, fleece or down jacket, waterproof jacket, hiking pants, warm hat, gloves, thermal socks, sturdy hiking boots, daypack, reusable water bottle, sun protection, flashlight, camera, and personal medication.
