Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
You'll land at Tribhuwan International Airport where a representative meets you. After settling into your hotel, you'll head out on a half-day tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square to see the old royal palace, temples, and their detailed carvings. That evening you'll have authentic Nepalese food before returning to rest.

Kathmandu
This day focuses on Kathmandu's heritage sites and religious locations. You'll start at Swayambhunath Stupa (the Monkey Temple) with its whitewashed buildings and views across the valley, then move to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest in the world. After lunch, you'll visit Pashupatinath Temple, a significant Hindu site. Later, you'll meet with your trekking guide to go over plans for the trek ahead.

Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
A 35-minute flight takes you from Kathmandu to Lukla over green hills and valleys with Himalayan peaks visible throughout. Upon arrival, you'll meet your trekking team and begin heading toward Phakding. The path descends to the Dudh Koshi River where you'll cross suspension bridges, walk past mani walls and small communities, trek through villages and rhododendron forests before reaching Phakding for the night.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
After eating breakfast, you'll continue past old gompas and waterfalls alongside the Dudh Koshi River. You'll reach Benkar valley and Monjo, where you enter Sagarmatha National Park. Multiple suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags come next, and you'll pass through Jorsale village. A steep hour of climbing after crossing a high suspension bridge at the river confluence brings you to Namche Bazaar, the main hub for the Everest region.

- Day 5
Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization Day)
Namche Bazaar is your base for resting and letting your body adjust to altitude. You can wander through cafes and shops, check out the weekly market, or visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about climbing history and how people live here. Many trekkers take an early morning hike to Everest View Hotel for mountain views, or explore nearby villages like Khumjung with its monastery, Khunde, or Thame if you want a longer outing.

Namche Bazaar to Phortse Thanga
Starting from Namche with mountain views, you'll trek on winding trails past spots where you can see Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, and Taboche. Walking through rhododendron forest that gradually transitions to juniper and conifer trees, you'll reach a trail junction and branch toward Gokyo valley. You'll pass through seasonal settlements and Yak Kharkas, go by Mohang (a famous Lama's birthplace), and finish at Phortse Thanga with views of Khumbila Peak and Tawache Peak.

Phortse Thanga to Dole
After breakfast you'll trek out of the valley through thick rhododendron forest, crossing suspension bridges as you go. Passing through grazing settlements for yaks, including Tongba at 3950m and Gyele at 3960m, the trail keeps you alongside the Dudh Koshi River. From Tongba onward to Dole, you'll see waterfalls and a hydroelectric station while climbing gradually.

Dole to Machhermo
Alpine plants become more colorful as the trail climbs steadily from Dole to a scenic ridge rising above the river valley. You'll walk through smaller seasonal hamlets including Lhabarmo and Luza, where cattle graze in the open pastures. Cho Oyu Peak stands as a backdrop while Kantega and Thamserku peaks frame the trail. This shorter, gradual day brings you to Machhermo around midday.

Machhermo to Gokyo
You're heading to Gokyo as the landscape shifts into alpine vegetation. Just beyond Machhermo, climbing a ridge gives excellent views down to Kantega and up toward Cho-Oyu at 8,153m. The valley opens wider as you pass through Pangram at 4,390m. After descending to the river, you'll climb the steep end moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier, then the path flattens past the second lake at 4,690m before reaching Gokyo at 4,750m beside the third glacial lake.

- Day 10
Gokyo (Acclimatization Day)
You'll spend another day at Gokyo for acclimatization and exploration. Start early for the climb up Gokyo Ri at 5,463m, a gradual ascent that helps your body adjust to altitude. After getting past false peaks and some steep sections, the summit rewards you with prayer flags and 360-degree views including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, plus the Ngozumpa Glacier spreading below. Spend your afternoon exploring up to the Fifth Lake past the Fourth Lake.

- Day 11
Gokyo to Dole
After climbing Gokyo Ri Peak, you'll retrace your route from Gokyo valley back toward Dole. Starting near the Third Lake and following the trail along the First and Second Gokyo lakes, you'll trace the Dudh Koshi River as it flows from the Ngozumpa glacier. Crossing an iron bridge, you'll pass through Phangka settlement, then descend the hillside passing chortens and walking through Luza and Lhabarma in thick forest before gradually reaching Dole.

- Day 12
Dole to Namche Bazaar
You'll eat breakfast then descend slowly from Dole through the hydroelectric station, rhododendron forest, and settlements like Tongba. The trail climbs to Monga Hill ridge past the birthplace of Lama Syange Dorge, then slows as you reach a trail junction. Hiking through Sanasa and Kenjoma settlements in dense forest, you'll descend carefully the whole way back to Namche Bazaar at a slow pace to reduce strain on your body.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Your final full trekking day involves a gradual walk back to Lukla from Namche. You'll start with a steep descent to Larja Bridge where there's an Everest viewpoint, then continue to Monjo and exit the national park. The trails feature suspension bridges over the Bhote Koshi River and its tributaries, old monasteries and chortens, valleys and communities including Benkar, Phakding, Nurning, and Chheplung before you reach Lukla, completing the Gokyo valley trek.

Lukla to Kathmandu
An early morning flight heads back to Kathmandu to avoid afternoon weather problems in the region. You'll have another scenic flight over hills, mountains, winding rivers, and terraced farmland. After landing at Kathmandu's domestic terminal, you'll transfer to your hotel to relax and prepare for your next flight. If time allows, you can shop for souvenirs or do other activities you've arranged.

Departure from Kathmandu
This marks the end of your Gokyo valley trek adventure. If you're staying longer, additional Nepal packages can be arranged for you. If you're departing, your representative will drive you to Tribhuwan International Airport for your flight out. The trek should have left you with great memories and hopefully inspired a return visit to Nepal.
