  We like the itinerary of this tour but we would also like to include Victoria Falls as part of our trip. How can that be added? What would be the extra cost? While I have indicated Mar 24, 2027 as our start date, we could also do March 22nd or the 28th.

  Do you have any similar tours with an upgrade in the hotel or lodging? We are two active 70 year olds looking for a small group african tour with a safari, Cape town and other explorations of Southern Africa. We would like to spend in the 6,000 -7000 range for a 10-14ish day trip in August.

    Our National Geographic Journeys are upgraded in service level and accommodations are usually upgraded as well.
    
    However, if you wish to look at an even nicer upgrade in terms of accommodation you will have to look at our Geluxe style tours. These tours also have upgraded service levels which include the accommodations.
    
    These are the closest in experience to a Cape Town & Kruger itinerary.
    
    1. Zimbabwe & Botswana: Chobe, Hwange & Lake Kariba:
    - Safari-focused with wildlife drives and stays in upscale camps
    - Similar safari experience to Kruger National Park, but in Botswana/Zimbabwe
    
    2. Kenya: Cultural Connections, Mt Kenya & the Maasai Mara
    -Includes safari in the Maasai Mara National Reserve
    -Community-owned lodges and cultural immersion experiences.
    
    3. Tanzania: Chimp Trekking & Serengeti Safari
    - Combines wildlife safaris with trekking and nature experiences.
    
    These trips give the same type of premium safari experience you'd get in Kruger, there is not a Kruger Geluxe tour as yet as this is a fairly new travel style. It may be available in the future.

    You can absolutely request your own room on this tour by adding a My Own Room supplement (subject to availability). This guarantees private accommodation throughout the trip, so you won't be paired with another traveler. This would be on request at the time and we will need to check availability with our Local Operations team. This will take 3-4 business days for us to receive confirmation. Kindly note that availability is not guaranteed until our team confirms it and needs to be done at the time of booking the tour.

    I tried going through the booking process on both Tourradar and the gadventures website, but there was no options for a single supplement. How much is the single supplement and how do I request my own room?

    You won't have an option to add the own room since it is sold out currently. If you book with TourRadar you will need to advise them you want the own room, make payment, and we will request it. Which is not a guarantee. You will also need to note if it's a dealbreaker or not at the time of the booking.

    Yes, the Single Supplement is sold out, we are given a certain number of allocated private rooms, and once they are gone, we cannot guarantee any further and have to request this with our suppliers. It is the same for Solo-ish Africa, this is also sold out for Single Supplement and must be requested.

    The cost of the single supplement on the Journeys: Explore Cape Town & Kruger National Park National Geographic Journeys departing 15 April 2026 is: 1269.00AUD and on the Solo-ish South Africa departing 16 April 2026 is: 889.00AUD. Both will be on request-basis.

    We would need to confirm the usual arrival timing with our local office for when you can expect to return to Johannesburg on Day 9 of the tour. It will most likely be late afternoon, as the group typically departs after a morning safari activity followed by the return drive (approximately 7 hours). Once a booking is in place, we can check the exact expected timing for you. If you are planning to fly out that same day, I would strongly recommend choosing a late evening flight.

  Our tour ends on Mar 27 in Johannesburg. We are booked to leave Cape Town on Mar 31. This leaves us with 4 days to roam in S Africa. We are looking at a short tour of the Garden Route(?), perhaps flying to a location on Mar 27 and touring towards Cape Town for this short period of time. Do you have any suggestions of a tour we could arrange for this time.

    The Dec 1st-10th departure is a requested tour space. That means we require full payment to formally begin the request process, we then notify our local office of your requested tour space, and then in 3-5 days time, we notify you if they were indeed able to confirm your requested tour space. If they cannot confirm this departure date and your space, we can move the payment to a different departure date or process a full refund. Depending on your passport nationality, if it is American, you will not need a visa for South Africa. Visas are of the traveller's responsibility so it would be best to double-check this requirement with your local embassy. We do have a 12-day version of this tour, Journeys: Explore Southern Africa, which extends your travels into Zimbabwe with us and visits Victoria Falls. This would still be a requested tour process but otherwise you would be closer to Devil's Pool to visit it!
