I would like to know if I can do my flight separately? Or can I modify the departure date/location to accommodate my retreat time?

Since this itinerary is sold as a package we wont be able to remove any of the included portions but we could ask our team to see if its possible for your return flight back to Lima to be moved. Instead of having the flight from the Amazon Jungle back to Lima they could check to see if we can do Cusco to Lima instead for the date you need and then you would just need to organize a flight from the Amazon to Cusco yourself.

Would like to know the hotels for this tour.

Expect 3-star accommodation on average. Hotels include: Lima - Arawi Miraflores Express Hotel, Cuzco - Awkis Dream Hotel, Ollantaytambo - Tunupa Lodge Hotel, Inca Trail - Camping, Quarry Trek - Camping and Continental Hotel, Amazon - Cayman Lodge.

My wife and I have minor mobility issues. Hiking the trail would be challenging. If I read the description correctly we can skip the hike and take a train/ bus to Machu picu. Is that correct.

You can either take the quarry option or train option. when you are making the booking you need to let us know which option you wish to go ahead.

What month is best to travel to the amazon

Peru is a year-round destination for travellers, but the dry/winter season – between May and September – is generally the most popular time for trekking. This is when the nights are cooler and there are often wildflowers in bloom along the trail. June and July are the most popular months to visit Peru, so expect long lines and a lot of people; consider visiting in the shoulder seasons to avoid the crowds. The rainy season runs from November to March, although taking a waterproof jacket at any time of year will come in handy for hikes.

What are the demographics for this tour? and how many solo travellers?

This tour is open to travellers ages 15+. The age range of travelers booked and the number of solo travelers can vary for every departure.

Is there an additional charge for solo travel and can you book as solo and change to double occupancy?

We do not have an additional charge for solo travel. The listed price is per adult in a twin share room; Solo Travellers who choose this option will be allocated a room with someone of the same gender. A single supplement is available if you'd prefer not to share a room on this trip. The additional cost to have your own room is from $375. The single supplement excludes Days 9 and 10 (Amazon Jungle), where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability. You can book with a single supplement and change to twin share and vice versa. There might be a fee for cancelling the single supplement, depending on when you're making the change.

Are there Inca Trail permits still available for the tour departing on the 15th of October?

There currently seem to be permits left. These are issued on a first come, first serve basis. The only way to confirm if we can get you the permits would be to request these as soon as possible.

Does the tour price include an Inca Trail permit?

No, however, Intrepid can arrange this for you. Please be aware that due to government regulations and the popularity of hiking the Inca Trail, permits do sell out months in advance.

1. Leon de Oro hotel in Lima was not good. Did not pick us up at the airport as requested. Instant coffee packets for breakfast. Loud air condtioner, no hot water. Front desk was on the rude side. When I asked for an extra night they wanted $84 when the online price was $33. The location was not a nice area. 2. Leo was very nice and knowledgeable but the excursion to downtown felt rushed, we were crammed onto a public bus in high covid season. The tour guide did not join us in the catacombs and the the only language spoken was Spanish. The churros were delicious but we had to eat on the run to keep up with him. 3. All my wife's plane and train tickets were issued with the wrong name. Intrepid argued with us for days, blaming us, before making the needed changes. 4. Edwind was great. Extremely knowledgeable. Sometimes maybe a little too much information. The non hiking tour did not have much substance other than Machu Picchu itself and the one day we traveled to some ruins near Cusco. We had to request exploring Ollantaytambo and pay extra for it. We really enjoyed the meal we had at local home restaurant in Cusco. 5. The hotel in Cusco was nice, warm showers, very clean, great location, good breakfasts. The hotel in Ollantaytambo was nice also. The lodge in the Amazon jungle was also very cool and nice. 6. Victor was great, Extremely knowledgeable about the jungle. We saw many cool animals and had a lot of interesting experiences. 7. We weren't allowed to hike up Wynapicchu because of Intrepid rules. So the worst of it, we feel was caused by Intrepid themselves. The hotel in Lima, the train and plane tickets, their attitude, their restrictions.Show more

Absolutely loved this tour.We missed out on doing the Inca trail to Machu Pichu,(Our own fault) but did the Quarry trail instead. While we were initially disappointed about this, I think it may have been a blessing in disguise. We loved the Quarry trail, the scenery is breathtaking and it is far less crowded than the classic Inca trail. We only saw 3 other people, apart from those in our our group for the 3 days. Our guides on the Quarry trail were Marcia and Mel. They were just fantastic, made the trek unforgettable. All our other guides on our trip were great but a special mention must go to Patricia. She is without a doubt the most organized, generous and caring woman. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. She treated us like family. Intrepid I hope you realize what a treasure you have with this woman. The accommodation was perfectly acceptable(especially in Ollyantambo)and centrally located. Food was great, we loved all the food in Peru and south America in general. Thanks for a fantastic and unforgettable tour Intrepid. I would do another trip with you again in a heart beatShow more

  No, however, Intrepid can arrange this for you. Please be aware that due to government regulations and the popularity of hiking the Inca Trail, permits do sell out months in advance.
