Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Chiquisca
Start early from your Cusco hotel and head by private transport to Cachora, where you'll catch views of Salkantay and Humantay glaciers. After breakfast, you'll move on to Capuliyoc to meet your hiking team and begin a 3-hour descent to Chiquisca. The route takes you through the Apurímac Valley with views of Padreyoc and Qoriwayrachina mountains, and there's a good chance to spot condors along the way. You'll reach the Chiquisca campsite by afternoon, have dinner, and settle in for your first night.

- Day 2
Chiquisca to Marampata
After breakfast, this is a tough day hiking wise. You'll start with a one-hour descent to Rosalinas Beach, which sits at the valley's lowest point, then cross the footbridge. From there, the most difficult section begins with steep zigzag climbs going uphill. Stop in Santa Rosa for lunch, then continue another 3 hours or so to reach Marampata camp. You'll have great views of the region's deepest canyons, and if timing works out, the sunset hits the mountains and Apurímac Valley in orange tones. Dinner and rest follow under the stars.

Marampata - Choquequirao
Spend the day checking out the Choquequirao archaeological complex, roughly an hour from camp. Your guide will walk you through this hidden Inca site, which is actually larger than Machu Picchu, showing off impressive plazas, temples, and agricultural terraces. You'll have a picnic lunch during the exploration and can look for the famous white llamas carved in stone on the platforms. Keep in mind that only about 40% of the site is visible right now. Head back to Marampata camp in the evening for dinner and rest.

- Day 4
Marampata to Chiquisca
Begin the return journey from Choquequirao with a final view of the canyon from Marampata. Walk about 2 hours through lush vegetation to Santa Rosa for lunch. After that, you can cool off in the cold waters of the Apurímac River at Rosalinas Beach before making the ascent back to Chiquisca. Once there, a local family will invite you into their home to share insights into Andean customs, traditions, and their connection to Pachamama. Have dinner and rest at the Chiquisca campsite.

Chiquisca to Cusco
Start early to beat the intense sun and hike about 4 hours alongside the Apurímac River to reach Capuliyoc, where you'll say goodbye to your hiking team. From there, private transport takes you to the sacred Saywite Monolith, which has more than 200 intricate carved figures that held high value for the Incas. On your way back to Cusco, stop for a relaxing soak in the natural hot springs of Conoc before lunch. You'll take in final views of the snow-capped mountains and arrive in Cusco around 6:00 p.m. for your hotel transfer.
