  Terrible communication from the cruise company about the new tour with only 5 days to go before leaving on the boat. This was particularly disappointing when we had an email the week before saying everything was normal. The boats would’ve been travelling the new route for a number of months with the river being so low for many months before and yet all we got was a very basic table with what destinations we were travelling to. Also it had us ending up only half way down the original path. So we were being left to arrive in Koblenz with no way shown to us of the company taking us to the final stop of Basel that was on the original itinerary. This first email with the basic table should not have been sent to us. One day later after I had quickly arranged my own transfer at my own cost to Basel, we got an email with transfer provided by the cruise company to Basel at the ungodly hour of 3am or less ghastly time of 8am by coach. No times of when the boat would arrive or depart and. which ports we were staying at overnight was provided. So again we saw Utrecht a few days before because we didn’t think we had time there. But we stayed there all afternoon and night with the cruise. There was no discussion of what we would be credited with should we do the new tour. And the new tour was about 80% different to what we had booked. . We came from Australia so to rebook airfares to go next year was not possible. It’s 24 hours flying and very expensive. So that option is fine for people who live in Europe but not for people who flew 24 hours to take the cruise. We thought the least they could do was upgrade people for free to compensate and appease them yet no one was interested to try to make up for this total failure of communication with customers. It also would’ve been good if they had told us to check if our insurance may cover us for cancelling but again we had a little information given to us and I won’t be travelling with this cruise liner again.Show more

  The experience was good but because of all the changes and going down the Moselle and not the Rhine it caused a lot of confusion regarding the schedule and tours. The Star ship was great and the Riva was excellent. Staff was excellent and extremely attentive to all our needs. And the food was excellent and the different choices of food. Wine could be better. It would be better if there were more things to do on the ship, more activities. And more cruising during the day. Considering all the changes it was good and I would love to do it again on the Rhine as we came all the way from Canada and this was to be the highlight of our month long trip.Show more

  We did not do the cruise because the Rhine water levels were too low and the cruise only went half way. We were given the option to defer the cruise to next year which we believe we have agreed to. I am still awaiting a email confirmation from Tour Radar about this. That said, the communications from and with Tour Radar about the cancellations have been very poor. Very slow to respond, and they don’t do as asked. I have asked for email confirmations of our cancelled tour and have still not received anything. The fact that you are asking for a review of the cruise makes me worried that that cancellation has not been properly recorded and that you seem to think we went on the cruise. I suspect nothing will come of this review anyway.Show more

  Our Rhine cruise was beset by climate difficulties which meant several changes of itinerary during to low water levels. We had some parts in the Netherlands and the Moselle river but I don’t think we ever saw the Rhine. However the staff were outstanding, the ship was fabulous and amazing food. We could not fault the service or the desire of the staff to facilitate the trip to be the best it could possibly be. We were disappointed at times but realised it was beyond their control. A six hour bus trip on the last day ( to get to disembarking destination of Basel) was a bit gruelling with a 2.45 wake up. If the water levels were good I think the trip would have been perfect.Show more

  The river cruise was good even though we missed seeing what we had paid to see. The staff were amazing. The food was so delicious. The places we did see were interesting. River cruising the Netherlands and Belgium is not quite cruising the Rhine Valley though. But nobody can control the water levels. Unfortunately the on tour support from Tour Radar was sub standard. We needed answers to questions straight away but nobody works an afternoon shift or the weekends at Tour Radar. This left us in a state of stress for a lot of our cruise not knowing what was going on from one day to another. Surely when there is a time difference for travellers who are overseas someone could work afternoon and weekends. After all that’s when you’re needed, when things don’t go to plan. Have to rate the after sales service of Tour Radar one star. The river cruise company was 4 stars.Show more

  The Rhine River Cruise was excellent even though the water levels in the Rhine were too low to continue past Koblenz. Instead the ship had to divert into the Moselle. We still had excursions along the way and the company even organised a mini bus to take those who had to leave form Basel to Basel the day of disembarkation; and those who were leaving from Frankfurt to Frankfurt airport, which was very handy for me. The cabin and food very very good and every day we received a written program for the activities of the next day. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the tour director available to answer questions all the time.Show more
