Itinerary
- Day 1
Lima
Start at the Larco Museum, where you'll walk through galleries holding nearly 45,000 pieces, including Mochica ceramics dating back 2,000 years. After that, you'll head out on a roughly 1 hour 30 minute walk through Lima's historic center, passing colonial buildings and the Plaza San Martín before reaching the Plaza de Armas. There you'll see the Government Palace, Municipal Palace, and the old colonial Cathedral. By 2:00 p.m. you're back at your hotel with the rest of the afternoon free to do whatever you'd like.

- Day 2
Lima to Cusco
An early flight gets you from Lima to Cusco, then a hotel transfer takes care of getting you settled. Your afternoon starts at 12:30 p.m. with a city tour hitting the Cathedral to see the Escuela Cusqueña paintings, then moving to Qorikancha Temple. From there you'll visit Tambomachay, Puka Pukara, and Sacsayhuamán where you'll spend about 30 minutes watching the sunset. The tour wraps up at Qenqo and heads back near the Main Square after around 5 hours total.

Vinicunca Mountain
A minibus ride takes you roughly 3.5 hours south from Cusco through the Peruvian Andes to Vinicunca, known for its striking natural colors from mineral deposits. The mountain was only recently discovered and has quickly become a must-see destination in the region, popular with visitors looking for something different from the typical Cusco sites.

Cusco to Bambu Lodge
You'll get picked up early from your Cusco hotel at 11,152 ft/3,399 m and spend 3 hours in private transport heading south through the Sacred Valley to Paucartambo at 9,022 ft/2,750 m. There you'll see ancient pre-Incan funeral towers at Ninamarca and have traditional breakfast in town. Then it's a 2-hour drive through Manu Cloud Forest around 7,874 ft/2,400 m, where orchids and native plants fill the landscape. After lunch, a short hike takes you out to spot the Andean cock of the rock. The final 2-hour drive brings you to Bambu Lodge at roughly 2,297 ft/700 m in the lower forest.

Bambu Lodge to Soga De Oro Lodge
Morning starts with jungle sounds at Bambu Lodge at 2,297 ft/700 m, followed by typical native breakfast with fresh coffee. A quick 20-minute drive gets you to Atalaya port where you'll board a motorized boat for roughly 40 minutes heading upstream on the Madre de Dios river to Soga De Oro Lodge at 1,476 ft/450 m. After lunch, you'll take traditional balsa rafts out on the tranquil Machuwasi lake to look for caimans and regional birds. A guided walk through medicinal plantations teaches you about indigenous natural remedies, and then you're back at the lodge by dusk for dinner.

Parrot Clay Lick Exploration
Breakfast at Soga De Oro Lodge at 1,476 ft/450 m leads into a 25-minute boat ride to the Parrot Clay Lick where vibrant parrots and macaws gather to feed on mineral-rich clay. Your guide explains the science behind why the birds need this clay and the health benefits it provides. After returning to the lodge for lunch, you'll take a leisurely jungle trail walk where monkeys, giant trees, and medicinal plants come into view. Following dinner, a night safari takes you out to spot nocturnal creatures like toads, frogs, snakes, and spiders active after dark.

Private transport then takes you back up to Cusco at 11,152 ft/3,399 m, wrapping up your 4-day Manu Jungle adventure with memories of Amazon wildlife, quiet rivers, and the jungle canopy.

Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu
Morning transport heads north from Cusco with a stop at a lookout point for your first view of the Sacred Valley, where your guide gives you some context about what you're seeing. You'll check out the Pícac archaeological site with its cultivation terraces at 3,400-3,500 meters, then walk through a handicraft market in town. The drive continues toward Ollantaytambo, following the Urubamba River, where you'll see terraces and the Temple of the Sun ruins. An afternoon train then takes you down to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay.

Cusco Departure
You've got a free morning in Cusco to relax and wander through local markets and plazas, grabbing coffee, chocolates, or cakes if the mood strikes. An afternoon domestic flight then takes you back to Lima, whether for an overnight stay or to catch an onward international flight the same day.
