You'll arrive in Lima and check into your beachfront hotel for two nights. The city's got quite a bit going for it with its food scene, museums, and galleries to explore when you're ready.

This morning a local guide takes you through Lima's mix of old and new. You'll see colonial buildings, the Franciscan monastery with its ossuary, and the Larco Museum. A welcome lunch is included as part of the tour through the San Isidro financial district.

Lima to Iquitos

Amazon Rainforest

Iquitos to Sacred Valley
You leave the Amazon and fly to Cuzco, then travel through Andean mountain landscapes to reach your hotel in the Sacred Valley beside the Urubamba River. This region was the heart of the Inca empire.

Sacred Valley
A walking tour takes you through Ollantaytambo, the fortress where Manco Inca defeated Spanish conquistadors. Your afternoon is free in the village of Urubamba, and tonight there's a tapas dinner with local performers.

Machu Picchu to Cuzco
The train brings you back to Cuzco, sitting at 11,150 feet above sea level. This is the oldest continuously occupied city on the continent and was the Inca imperial capital. You check into Palacio del Inka, a luxury hotel inside a 500-year-old mansion, for two nights.

Cuzco
Walking through Cuzco's cobblestone streets, you see how ancient Incan ruins sit next to colonial houses and Baroque palaces. The Sacsayhuaman fortress has massive carved stones arranged in a puma's head shape. You also visit a local school supported by Scenic to connect with the community.

Cuzco to Santiago
After saying goodbye to your tour director and fellow travelers, you transfer to the airport and fly to Santiago, Chile for an overnight stay before continuing your journey.

You travel to Valparaiso, a World Heritage city on the coast with colorful buildings covering steep hillsides. Theater, music, and street art fill the streets. Your Discovery Yacht is waiting in the harbor, and you meet the captain and crew before a toast at the Sky Bar.

Puerto Montt

At Sea

Inner Fjords and Puerto Eden
You cruise through the Inner Fjords and English Narrows to Puerto Eden, the only settlement inside the Chilean Inside Passage. Walk the wooden boardwalks, learn about Mapuche culture, and see Pio XI Glacier, the only glacier on Earth that's still expanding daily.

Strait of Magellan

Punta Arenas
Punta Arenas sits at southern Chile's extreme point and serves as a gateway to Antarctica and Torres del Paine. The city has European architecture and is known for kayaking. Chilean Fjords

Seno Garibaldi and Seno Pia Glacier
While cruising, you encounter Seno Garibaldi, one of the world's few advancing glaciers. You cruise to Seno Pia Glacier to explore its ice crevasses and rivers. This World Heritage Biosphere Reserve has seals, sea lions, seabirds, and Andean condors. Afternoon options include a Deck 10 cabana or tea on your private verandah.

Cape Horn and Beagle Channel
Cape Horn is where the Atlantic and Pacific meet at South America's southern tip. The water can be rocky but you'll likely see sea lions, penguins, and whales. You also cruise the Beagle Channel, named for the ship that carried Charles Darwin on his five-year voyage. Tonight try sushi at Koko's or retreat to the library.
