Chichén Itzá - Mérida
The drive to Chichén Itzá takes most of the morning, covering about 320 km. Once there, you'll walk through the main structures including the 34m Kukulkan pyramid, the Temple of the Warriors, and the ball court. On the way to Mérida, there's a stop at Ik-Kil cenote where you can see the natural limestone sinkhole before continuing.

Mérida
Start by walking around Mérida's city center, checking out the Zócalo and Paseo Montejo where colonial buildings line the streets. You'll spend some time at a traditional market looking at local goods and crafts. Later, head to Celestún bird reserve where you'll take a boat out on the lagoon to see pink flamingos and other wildlife.

Uxmal - Campeche
Beginning at Hacienda Yaxcopoil, you'll see the museum covering Mexico's colonial history and the old estate itself. From there, the trip continues to Uxmal, one of the major Mayan ceremonial sites. You'll explore the Pyramid of the Magician, Nuns' Quadrangle, Ball Court, and Governor's Palace. Before arriving in Campeche, there's a stop at a Yucatecan village, and the day covers approximately 265 km total.

Palenque
Campeche's restored colonial old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the city tour shows off its colorful buildings and port character. After that, you'll drive about 355 km to Palenque where the afternoon includes a hike through the rainforest to get a feel for the jungle environment before exploring the ruins.

- Day 6
Palenque
At Palenque, you'll see the ceremonial center set within tall jungle trees, walking through the Temple of Inscriptions, Palacio, and Temple of the Cross. After exploring the ruins, the afternoon takes you to either Agua Azul or Misol Há where large waterfalls cascade through the rainforest. The distance covered is roughly 60 km.

Chicannà - Becán - Chetumal
This longer driving day, approximately 475 km, takes you to Chicanná first where the archaeological zone has a distinctive temple district with unusual grotesque facade decorations. Next stop is Becán, where a unique moat surrounds the entire Mayan site. You'll arrive in Chetumal by late afternoon, giving you time to settle in.

Bacalar - Tulum - Cancún
Driving through the Bacalar lagoon area toward Tulum, you'll visit the Mayan ceremonial center positioned on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. Inside the Templo de los Frescos, there are remarkable murals showing depictions of gods and spiritual figures. From Tulum, you'll transfer to Cancún airport or a connecting hotel on the Riviera Maya beaches, with the round trip ending around 5 pm after covering approximately 370 km.
