Itinerary
- Day 1
Kampala to Chimpanzee Trekking Area
Start early from Kampala at 5am after attending the pre-departure meeting at Red Chili Hideaway the night before at 6pm. The drive takes you through rolling green hills and thick forests as you cross the Equator. You'll spot herds of Ankole cattle along the way, recognizable by their long curved horns. Once you arrive at your destination, the evening is yours to relax and wander around the local community.

- Day 2
Chimpanzee Trekking
Head into the forest to track chimpanzees. This search is different from gorilla trekking since chimps spend most of their time in trees rather than on the ground. You'll be looking up into the dense canopy as you move through the forest, watching for movement and listening for calls. Spotting them in their natural setting gives you a chance to see our closest relatives up close.

- Days 3 - 5
Lake Bunyonyi and Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Travel to Lake Bunyonyi, where small islands dot the water and forests surround the shoreline. From here, your group breaks into smaller teams for the next three days. Some people head out to track mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park while others stay behind. If you're not trekking that day, you can take boat trips around the islands, go bird-watching, visit local villages, or paddle a canoe. Gorilla treks last anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 or 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are, then you get about an hour watching them from a safe distance.

Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala
Leave Lake Bunyonyi and head back toward Kampala, driving along the northern side of Lake Victoria. You'll arrive back in the city by late afternoon or early evening, wrapping up the tour.
