Itinerary
- Day 1
Brisbane to Noosa to Hervey Bay
Start with a welcome meeting at 10 am in Brisbane, then drive to Noosa Heads where you'll have time for lunch and to walk around the boutique shops or relax on the beach. If you're interested, part of the Noosa Coastal Walk is worth doing to see local wildlife in the area. From there, continue driving to Hervey Bay and settle in for the night.

- Day 2
K'gari (Fraser Island)
After breakfast, take a ferry across to K'gari and spend the full day exploring. You'll drive along 75 Mile Beach Road, swim in the clear waters of Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie) with its white silica sand, then refresh yourself in Eli Creek's fresh water. Visit the Maheno shipwreck and check out the colorful sands at the pinnacles while keeping an eye out for dingoes. Walk through rainforest areas and golden beaches before heading back to Hervey Bay for the evening.

Hervey Bay
You'll have a free day in Hervey Bay to do what you like. Whale watching is possible if the season works out, or you could cycle along the foreshore, take a walk, go kayaking, or just relax on the beach. Grab some snacks during the day since you'll be catching the 'Spirit of Queensland' train north to Airlie Beach this evening, departing from Maryborough West train station.

Airlie Beach
A new leader meets you early at Proserpine train station. Head into Airlie Beach and grab breakfast at a local café if you'd like. Your day is open for exploring this coastal town with its palm trees, beer gardens, and cafés. You can walk around, jump in for a swim at one of the local spots, or hang out at a bar by the water. There's an optional group dinner with your leader in the evening if you want to join.

Landmarks Airlie Beach - Day 5
Whitsunday Islands - Whitehaven Beach
Spend the full day at Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. Start by walking up to Hill Inlet Lookout for great ocean views and photos. Get on a boat and go snorkeling at different spots to see coral reefs, colorful fish, turtles, and clams. Lunch is included, then you'll have time to relax on the 7 km stretch of white sand beach. Back in Airlie Beach by evening, grab a cocktail at one of the bars and watch the sunset.

Townsville - Paluma Range National Park - Lucinda
It's a long travel day with breaks along the way. Stop in Townsville to visit Castle Hill lookout for views of the town and ocean, then grab lunch and relax by the water. Continue on to Big Crystal Creek in Paluma Range National Park where you can walk around, swim in the creek, or watch for local birds. Drive through to Lucinda this afternoon for your overnight stay.

Mungalla Station - Mission Beach
After breakfast, drive to Mungalla Station to meet the Nywaigi First Nations owners and learn about their culture, history, and past conflicts with European settlers through the homestead exhibitions. Walk around the Mungalla wetlands looking for aquatic birds. Later, head to Mission Beach, a small coastal town with palm-lined beaches. Stop in Tully on the way and ask your leader about their favorite local spots.

- Day 8
Atherton Tablelands - Cairns
After breakfast, drive to Millaa Millaa Falls and walk through the area for a swim in the cascades. Stop for lunch at a local café in Yungaburra, then walk the Curtain Fig boardwalk to see the iconic mabi tree with its 15 meter aerial root curtain. Next, visit Lake Eacham, an old volcano site where Australia's largest python lives, and maybe take a swim while watching for freshwater crocodiles. Drive to Cairns in the afternoon where your trip ends around 5 pm.
